Ok the people that live two doors down from me the husband is NYC Detective. The wife stays home with their 3 kids. 7,5,3. They are the worst kids and she doesnt watch them. The 7 year old came to my house goes in my shed. Walks in my house takes cans of soda out. Takes the house in the front yard and sprays it in the window. ALL at my house. Then My dad was outside cooking on the grill. He tells him u have to go home ure gonna get hurt he wont leave finally he leaves comes back with a super soaker and sprays my dad. my dad went and had a fence put up in the 30 years my parents have lived here never have they had a fence. then the 5 year old rides her Razor scooter (so does the 3 year old) with no helmet nothing they ride it up and down th driveway my dad has no problem with that hes always said hed rather them play in his yard then in the street. Well the razor sccoter has no covers on the handle bars so the 5 year old falls off of it while riding Around my moms Brand new Benz (my father tells them not to ride around the car) puts a scratch on the car. My dad tells the mother and she says O well Get some buffer and it should come out..... Then the mother complains to my cousin (who lives in between us) that my dad is a grouchy old man. The other day im out side with a winter coat on and The 5 year old is walking across the lawn with shorts and short sleeves no socks no shoes the 3 year old has only a diaper on YUP only a diaper. What annoys me the most though is the fact that she doesnt feel her kids need to be buckled in. When the three year old was in the infant seat she would just put the seat on the floor and feel that was ok. She lets them sit in the front seat even the three year old. Nothing annoys me more then this With anyone! People in this world cant have kids and people like that are willing to throw them away! Well My FH just came home and says its a good thing u werent with me I said Why he goes because I just saw her and she had the 5 year old in the front seat with no seat belt and the three year old standing up behind the drivers seat but naked.. Enough is Enough.
Do u think im crazy? I want to call CPS

From someone who has had to call CPS in the past, I think you need to evaluate whether the children are in severe danger or not. The reason I ask this is because there are plenty of people in this world who don't buckle their children in, not that I'm condoning it, in fact I think it's atrocious, but it doesn't make someone an unfit parent, just plain old stupid. There are plenty of children who are sexually abused, mentally abused, starved, etc, and I have seen all of this, and CPS still does not do anything, and if they do remove the children form the home, they end up in foster homes where they are no better off than before. So think about whether or not you think they would be better off with a foster family, or is this mother just an idiot? Maybe send an anonymous letter to the father telling him what goes on first. I don't know, JMO.

I'm pretty sure that having your children run around half naked and unbuckled in the car can be considered 'unfit' IMHO CALL!!!
Edited to add:
I'm a mandated reporter and have callled quite a few times and most of the time the parents are sure to correct the problem before their children are taken away.

They have to investigate it. And im sure that she would fix the problem before they are taking away.

You definitely cited enough reasons to call CPS. Definitely do it anonymously.

CPS will not take the kids unless they are in immediate danger but they will monitor the home and make sure the problems are corrected.
I too am a mandated reporter. My Mother was a case worker for CPS and still works for the agency in another compacity. To say that they will not do anything, is not true and unfair. They must do what is within their guidelines. I cannot tell you how many times I have had to go pick up my Mother because she was held in contempt of court for arguing with a judges ruling. The final straw was when a judge ordered a child back to the mother and my Mom knew that she was going to kill the child. The judge wouldn't listen- give her back was all he said. Well, long story short 6 months later she killed her child. A child that was in a loving foster home that wanted to adopt her. My mother left that position because emotionally she couldn't bare it anymore.
Please call!!!
Sorry to go off on a tangent

SWAGS that is so sad. ure poor mother. It just makes me sick to my stomach. When the 3 year old was infant she would just put him in the infant carier on the floor. To me that does make her and unfit mother and stupid IM SORRY!!!!!!! When mike came home today and said that the 5 year old was i the front seat (With airbags) with no seatbelts and the 3 year old was standing up behind the drivers seat NAKED that means shes unfit also.... As far as the dad i never really see him that often he works nights and sleeps all day I can say that he has a brand new pick up truck and ive seen him drive with them in the bed of the truck remember they are 7,5 and almost 3

Re: This has gone on long enough I need the # for CPS
Please do not take what I wrote the wrong way. I DO think those things warrant a call, but I have seen WORSE things happen to children that were taken out of their home, and while I DO realize it takes more than one phone call, in most cases, to have a child removed from a home, I just wanted to make sure you thought about it good enough. Sometimes things seem a lot worse than they are. That's all. But on the other hand, I guess it's better safe than sorry, and if there's really nothing terrible going on, then CPS will see that and they will be left alone. It's just a serious allegation and accusation calling CPS and I know it's been a tough decision to call when I've had to in the past. ETA: My mother, my sister, my father and I are all mandated reporters, so please do not think that I in anyway condone that behavior of your neighbor.

Although it warrants a call do you do you think those kids are going to get better attention/treatment in foster care? I highly doubt it. If I were you I'd say something to the mother first- why try to get the kids pulled from the home first when they'll probably be WORSE off somewhere else.

Or they might get starved like the kids in New Jersey. Just a thought. Look- no parent is perfect- these people sound like IDIOTS.. but I'm sure almost everyone who has had a kid has done something reprehensible. There is no such thing as a perfect parent.

I'm also a mandated reporter and I would say report, it may scare the crap out of the mother and make her clean up her act. Besides if this is how she treats her children outside of the home one can only wonder what goes on behind closed doors.

Sassy if everyone who observed something they 'thought' might be neglect and didn't report it for your reasons then how many children would be in real danger? Just because it is reported doesn't mean the children will be automatically be taken out of the home. But it probably will help her to straighten out her act and take parenting classes.

I agree - definitely report it... that is neglect and that is something that is reportable to CPS. At least it will be on record and hopefully a case worker will be keeping an eye on the kids and straightening up the mother. Its completely confidential when you call too....
