Things people never tell you...

Original post by Nancy

I have realized at 29 weeks that there are some things that people never mention to you as a warning when you are pregnant.

1. Pantyhose- doesn't matter that they make maternity pantyhose, because at this point who can even put them on.

2. Bathrooms- don't go in to regular public stalls, please use the handicap ones because otherwise you will find yourself (like I did) wedged between the door and the wall of the stall. The only way to avoid this is opening the door while standing on the toilet.

3. It doesn't matter in the end how healthy or little you eat, sometimes you will still gain more weight than you anticipate.

4. Everyone always has advice for you, whether you want to hear it or not, but no one ever offers advice on comebacks for rude and inconsiderate comments!

That is all for now...please add to this if you have any!

Jenn I know I'm going to be the person who goes into labor and must shower and shave before heading to the hospital. But I can probably guarantee nothing will go the way I hope it will.

I already told my husband that I will be showering/shaving before we leave for the hospital. I also said that if I have to, I will even shave around the head if it is sticking out (crowning)!

You never know... most people I know had the opportunity. One of my friends even put on a full face of make up (at 3am) while her DH sat in the car panicking because he couldn't imagine what was taking her son long!

I was CONVINCED that I would shower, etc. before heading off to the hospital, but when my water broke my doctor wanted me to leave for the hospital immediately since we were so far away (I was at my mom's house) and I didn't get a chance to.

I was mighty glad I had put a little effort in in the shower that morning and done my weekly 'blind leg shave'!

ME TOO!!! My water broke, Niagara Falls came and there's Deb running to the shower while Nanny is going 'are you crazy?'!!!!

Hey, I needed to be beautified!! It's bad enough I didn't get a chance to get my pedicure and the poor dr and nurse had to look at my horrible feet!!! At least the rest of me was all purty!!

My water broke in the shower so I was able to do the showering right on the spot. LOL Even though my water broke, it took about 45 minutes for the contractions to begin so I ate something (I know they say not to but I spent the day making a meal and was starving) and blow dried my hair. So you never know.

Hey, maybe you'll be lucky and stay the way they're now.

You ladies are killing me!

JennRenee!!

During my first tri - I was having some 'poop' problems as in they weren't coming out and when they did, I thought I would need a tree service to haul them away.

Anyhoo, it had been seven days since anything happened and I was desperate. I told my husband to go get an enema. He was like . I was crying in pain and threatend him with bodily harm if he didn't go get something. He came back and was like 'Well, now that I bought it, I want to help with it'. I was like 'NO WAY' but gave in because I was having technical difficulties. What a calamity that was! Afterwards, I was like 'Well, you can help maintain my choo-choo because I'm not going into delivery looking like I'm in need of a weed-whacker and you've already seen/done it all with me!'. You know when it gets impossible, I'll be sending him south with the good old Lady Bic because that's one thing I won't let go!

Shamee, you are TOO funny!!!

Another thing -- forget about trying to wash your feet at the end!!! You're lucky you can see them, let alone bend down to wash them!!!

I was lucky I have a big deep tub with a ledge for sitting 'cause that's how I would wash my feet Of course this was always the moment Steve would walk in the bathroom

Re: Things people never tell you...

OK, I have another two to add...

Reaching to the bottom of the wash machine to pull out those three socks that have flattened themselves out to the very bottom in the back. I swear they are looking up at me going ' hahaa, you can't reach me with your big pregnant belly.' Forget it, I am also going to have the cleanest change around from when my husband doesn't clean out his work clothes! I don't even try to reach the couple of coins at the bottom.

Sweeping isn't so bad, but trying to sweep it in to the dustpan quickly before my dog runs through it with his tongue out is quite the challenge. I swear, one of these days my husband is going to come home to me laying on the floor with a broom in one hand and a dustpan coming out my behind and a dog licking me to death.

Oh, yes, this weekend, I had a little 'incident' with my razor.
