Help- Hair and makeup vent (long)

Help- Hair and makeup vent (long)

I am so upset right now!!!! I had a trial a few months ago with Elena of Bridal Touch, and I LOVED her. I booked her on the spot. She called me yesterday to tell me her husband booked a vacation for the family without consulting her, and it conflicts with my wedding date!! She had to cancel!! She is sending me back my deposit,a nd she gave me referrals for some of her assistants to maybe have one of them do everything for me, but I am still upset. I am not mad at her, or even her husband (well, okay, maybe a little bit at him. LOL). I am just bummed.

Do you think it is wrong of me to ask Elena for the cost of my trial back, too? I never would have paid for a trial with her had she known then that she wouldn't be available for my date. Now I need to go do another trial (or more than one), and money is getting tight. Would I be wrong to ask for that back? Do you think she would? Or maybe one of her recommended people would waive the trial cost because of the circumstances?

I am so sad right now.

I would call her back and ask her who she recommends the most and see if SHE can call them and see if they're available for your wedding and if so she can explain the situation and maybe since they give eachother business she can ask them to waive the fee. That's what I would do. Good luck!

Actually, you're right...you never would have even HAD a trial with her if you knew she wasn't available for your date, so I don't think it's wrong to ask for the $$ back (although I'm not sure that I personally would do it...I'm a wimp )

I've heard great things about Oksana, I think cmc723 used her and LOVED her. FM for info if you want.

I'm so sorry. It doesn't hurt to ask for your money back. The worst she could say is no.

I agree with the ones above. you wouldnt have given her money if you werent gunna use her, but since you did get the service you paid for the most I think you can ask for is for her friends to waive there fee when they do your trial - esp once she puts out the word that you are definitly gunna book someone.. i dont see what difference it makes to them.
Its worth a try I would go for it.
Good Luck

I feel so bad for you ... but I know it will somehow work out!

Definitely ask for the trial money back , even thought she might not do it ... (I'm ALSO the biggest wimp ever!)

Jillian (Gorgeous Faces) comes highly recommended; so does Mya (both under the vendors board).. I'm going for my trial with Jillian in a few weeks, and she has a hair person who works with her. I'm going to book Mya for a trial also soon

GOOD LUCK!

I think your trial money should be refunded.

I agree with the others Heidi. That stinks sooooo much. Good luck with finding someone else, but DEFINITELY ask for trial money back!

Yes, I think you should ask for the trial $ back.. and I think she should give it to you!

Ok I definately think that she should return your deposit.. BUT.. she did the services at your trial.. She took her time out and actually performed services.. So I don't think that you should ask her for Trial money back..JMO..

ETA: well, now you have to go get ANOTHER TRIAL because she cancelled.. so.. I'm confused.. ?????

I think you should get the trial money back as well. It's the very least she can do to compensate you for this.

My makeup lady gave me my trials for free.. I saw her three times before my big day--- three different fittings!

Just a thought but you might want to try Jacqueline Nicole. Her trials are free unless you do the airbrushing then its 25. That is ofcouse if you have to pay more than that for one of the people elena recommends.
I'm sure it will all work out.

I think that that might be OK to ask. But I wouldn't press if she says no.

I would definately ask for the money back, seeing that you wouldn't have booked a trial with her if you knew she wasn't available on your day. I'm sure she'll understand!

I would ask for the trial money back. Sure, she performed a service for you, but if you knew she wouldn't be available, you never would have spent the money on it to start with.

I think it stinks also that she cancelled and your wedding is 3 months away, and a few of the people that some people are mentioning, like Jacqueline Nicole and Jennifer from FM were unavailable for me when I called more than a year in advance!
