We went for tuxedos yesterday. FH is disappointed because the ladies at the tux place said he should definately wear an ivory shirt since my gown is ivory. He likes the white shirt better...
Here's the vest, but they suggested we get the wing tipped (forget if that's what it's called) collar, since it is more readily available in ivory. I said the wing tipped so there's less of it showing. To me, the white shirt looks much better. We went with the ivory.
Can anyone post pics of an ivory bride next to a groom in a white tuxedo shirt? Anyone seen it done?

If your dress is ivory - then it won't be as noticable that his shirt is also! I doubt anyone will even be able to tell - at least that's what i've heard!

I'm having the exact same dilemma! My FH does NOT want to wear an ivory shirt, but I'm nervous that if he doesn't than my dress will look dirty. I feel bad to 'tell' him what to wear, but I do think he should do whatever is going to look best for photos.

It is soooo true!! His shirt should IVORY also. I have a sample of an extreme case where the bride was in Ivory and the Groom was in all white and it definitely made her gown look dirty. The faces have been blurred to protect the innocent!!
The thing is -- she looked positively GORGEOUS and her gown was beautiful.... except when she stood next to her groom.... yikes!

I have already told my FH that his shirt needs to be ivory and he has no problem with it. That was my only request as far the tux, the rest is totally up to him.

As a guy, I'm gonna say it's not fair to force him to wear something, because of what you chose. If he isn't happy in Ivory, let him wear white.

We're dealing with the same question. My FI points out that dinner jacket tuxedos put ivory and white next to each other (the 'white' jackets, a la Cary Grant, are actually ivory, and worn over a white shirt), and that this is a look most people don't have a problem with. He also points out that he'll be wearing a black jacket next to my dress.
I personally like guys to be in a white shirt, but I was considering having his tie made to match my ivory dress. I am not sure how an ivory tie will look against a white shirt though so I think we are going to have to look at both and see. Is it possible for you to compare both the white look and the ivory look to your dress and make a decision?

It really did not show up in pictures in my case. I guess it's different in every case though!!
My FH wore a white shirt and I wore an ivory dress!!!!

I had an ivory dress and DH and all GM wore ivory shirts and it looks white - my dress and the shirts - couldn't tell. I just wanted to be safe.
But my good friend who wore ivory had her DH and her GM wear a white shirt and I didn't notice a difference - I even went back and checked her pictures when she told me. She is a fashion designer too - so I expected that she would have been concerned about that and she said it never crossed her mind. I don't have any picture online of her wedding to show you. It looked fine.

i saw a picture in a tux add and one of the guys had on an ivory vest with a white shirt as far as i could tell. it looked really sharp. i am not sure what i am going to do yet. i really wanted the guys in gray vests, but i don't think it would look good with ivory shirts. i guess i will figure it out when i have to.

We're having the same dilemma. I think we're going to go with ivory shirts just to be safe.
