My sister is suing Huffman Koos.

These people have been such unbelievable hell on my sister for the last 8 months, I can't even believe they are still in business.

Short background. My sister ordered a Broyhill dining room set from them last July. After numerous delivery delays, she finally received it 5 months later. It was delivered wrapped up and cushioned, but when they began to unwrap it, they discovered numerous scratches, dents, one chair leg was completely split in half.

They have now waited almost 4 months for the replacement set to arrive. They got a call last week that it was in, and my sister arranged a delivery day. The day of delivery she waited, and waited, called and called. It never showed up. She got someone on the phone who told her 'we are very busy, you'll just have to wait' and hung up on her. She called back, got someone else who said 'if we told you it's coming, it's coming, just have patience'. Mind you, she was already 3 HOURS past the so-called delivery window.

They never show up, and she calls the next day to give them hell, and they arrange a Saturday delivery. My sister rearranged the kids schedules, because her husband is working, takes her kids out of their Saturday classes, and waits. They told her it was to be between 12PM and 4PM. They call her back at 12 and say 'it's now a 1PM and 5PM window'. At 6:30, she calls and asks for the manager she spoke to the day before and they tell her 'there is no one here by that name'. My sister flips out and asks to speak to whomever is the manager, someone gets on the line and it's the SAME WOMAN AS THE DAY BEFORE. The woman gave her a FAKE NAME!!!! My sister asked her if she thought lying to customers was good business practice and the woman tells her, 'only when I can't make promises'. My sister told her that she should brush off her resume because she was going to see to it that she was out of a job as soon as possible. Then she asked her when she thought it would arrive and the BIATCH respons 'WHEN THEY ARE READY!' and hangs up on her again.

P.S. They never showed up. My sister has been trying to contact the president of Huffman Koos all morning, and is now on the phone with an attorney, she's suing them for a full refund!

the manager at the steve maddan store lied to me about her name (I saw it on her name tag and it was on the receipt)...and that just PISSED ME OFF...

Did she pay for this furniture already. If she charged it have her call the credit card and dispute it the minute she gets her bill.

I have an pending charge for my LR sofa for close to a year now. Im not paying a penny until its 100% perfect.

Holy CRAP! You just convinced me to NEVER shop a Huffman Koos store! I hope your sister gets her money back!

She's filed complaints with the BBB and has started legal action. This whole story is much worse than I have written it up to be, I can't even put into words the frustration and hell this company has given her. I hope they all rot in hell!

just the fact that she has not had furniture for 9 months is justification enough for me!!!!

I should tell you that he HAS the set. They REFUSED TO LOAD IT BACK ON THE TRUCK WHEN THEY SAW IT WAS DAMAGED!

She has had this set in her house this whole time, completely damaged! They just haven't replaced it yet! The set is so badly damaged that 2 chairs are completely unusable. She took pictures of them the day they were delivered with a day/time stamp so she can prove it. There are nicks, scratches all over the buffet piece and china cabinet, and the table has pieces of wood missing from the top and sides, she can't even keep it uncovered because it looks so bad.

Sounds like my sister and the a bed frame she ordered from Levitz. This was MONTHS ago and until this day she still has the broken frame for the bed that broke the very same day that it was delivered. She is still fighting with them.

I've heard of the same situation w/ Seaman's. How horrible. Is there anyway your sister can stop calling, and go to the store? I'd be so p*ssed, I'd find the woman and ask her to her face to hang up on me now! Then, I'd get a manager, and they WOULD listen to me!
I can't believe they refused to load it back on the truck!!!!!! Sorry she had to take the damaged furniture in the first place.

Hope she gets a full refund & then some for her troubles! They should pay her attorney's fees etc.... since it's their fault she's got to hire an attorney!

I'm sorry to hear your sister is still struggling with Huffman Koos .. unfortunately, from my own experience with them .. I can honestly say I am not surprised. I know they don't care when you tell them you're going to contact the BBB .. the company made me sick when we had problems with our dining room set, an American Drew set, which was delivered damaged .. very similar to your situation .. however, our replacement deliveries did come .. 4 of them .. and the replacements were also damaged .. even the last set that I settled on keeping! (It was just a few minor scratches .. and at that point, not worth the aggrivation anymore .. plus, I had no more vacation time to use to be there for the deliveries).

Anyway .. I've shared this info many times in the past, so I'll refrain from going on any further about how horrible every department is at Huffman Koos .. not just the Farmingdale store, but the whole organization.

If you need names and numbers, let me know .. I'll take a look back and see if I can find them .. I had kept a running log of phone calls .. which grew to several pages before I was done with them. (Was I satisfied .. NO!!) .. But anyway .. I may still have names and numbers .. though I don't know how helpful it would be since they're all so horrible at taking care of the customer.

Wow I cant believe this, my mom went through hell with these people when she bought her entertainment center.

It was really, really bad! I will never shop there because of this!

From my experience, eventhough the 'help' was lousy from the Farmingdale store .. the entire organization is garbage .. while the store manager never returned my phone calls for the first 5 months of the ordeal, I got kicked around to a few different people, including some supervisor at the warehouse where the furniture is delivered from .. and then he stopped returning my calls. Anyway, when the manager did finally get involved, better progress was made, however that in no way is a compliment. And the person who primarily took the calls at the Farmingdale store .. she drove me nuts!
