FH and I are booking Bora Bora and Moorea for 2 weeks this Sunday, but the flight is 14 hours- 6 1/2 to Cali and 7 1/2 to Tahiti. I am a little leary and uneasy about the long flight but I will be taking Zanex, I always do. I am thinking it will be one of the times in my life I should sacrifice and go for it, regardless of how long it is. My question, does anyone know of any other more secluded places that have private villas/bunglaows closer. Please no St. Lucia or Sandals. Any suggestions are appreciated.

dont have any good info for you in regards to destinations
Not sure but maybe Moon Palace in Cancun, Mexico. Really nice, all inclusive but not secluded.
in regards to flying...as long as you got other things to keep you busy like reading, cd's, your new FH, in flight movies, .... you should be good. I went to Italy - 8 hrs and just thought it was a really long day. over water was boring cause there was nothing to look at..

Were going to Playa De Carmen- Mayan Rivera Mexico & were staying at the Royal Hideaway
It's mostly honeymooners.. and it's VERYYYYYYYYY Private! All inclusive for 10 days is aprox $4500.
It's not quite French Polynesia (that's where I want to go also) but check out The Turtle Inn in Belize. My cousin and his wife went there on their honeymoon and LOVED it. Turtle Inn is on the beach and there's a partner hotel in the middle of the jungle - you can opt to do half of your trip at one and half at the other. They definitely have villas and are really secluded.

i have no suggestions on other place but i will say that you will never have an experience like that on bora bora! we had the same flight and just slept the minute we got to tahiti. the next morning when you wake up in that gorgeous place you forget all about how tired you are! maybe you could break it up and spend a day or two in cali before flying to tahiti? or maybe take a red eye on one of the flights so you can just sleep. i definitely think it's worth it though!

what airline are you taking from CA to Tahiti? we were on Air Tahiti Nui and each seat had their own TV. they had a bunch of TV stations, movie stations, games, etc. they also serve free alcohol. the time went by sooo fast we couldn't believe it. the south pacific is unlike any other place on this earth. to not go because of the flight time would be a real shame, IMO!!

I think we are going to Couples Swept Away in Negril. Here's the site: http://www.couples.com/12sw/index.html
They are supposed to be more laid back and secluded than Sandals, with unobtrusive staff members and a gorgeous and private beach. I didn't want to fly far either, so we were going to either the Bahamas or Jamaica. The flight is only 3 1/2 hours!

The island of Mustique is pretty unique in that it is privately owned and you can rent out people's home's for the week - with your own chef, maid and gardener.

Maldives is in the Indian Ocean, right below India.
Mauritius is off the coast of Africa also in the Indian Ocean. Both islands are very secluded. Fm me for more info. I have tons of info saved on each island.
Just out of curiosity why no St Lucia? I'm just starting to look for destinations and that was one I was considering but I don't know much about it. Basically should I be warned of something? BTW- I'll probably have my Doctor write me a prescription for Zanex if I'm on the plane for more than 3 hours too. Long stays in confined spaces are not fun for me!

Tommy Hilfiger has a house there! ( I was addicted to'Rich girls' )
nevis is supposed to be really underdeveloped compared to its neighbors. It's next to St. Kitts. I read in a travel book that 1 hoenymoon couple didn't like it b/c everything was closed. But if that's what you are looking for. . .
