My sister is looking for an apartment to move into in August

My sister is looking for an apartment to move into in August

She's 26, single, full time social worker with Nassau County (Hempstead vicinity). She's looking for a 1 bedroom either on south or north shore or around Hempstead - I don't think she wants to travel more than 1/2 hour from work. She's a non-smoker, doesn't party to the wee hours, but she does have 2 cats (indoor cats). She's really nice (I can vouch!) and I believe she's willing to spend around $800 a month.

If anyone has any leads or hears of anything in the future please FM me.

Thanks!
Mary

Ill be honest... you probably won't get much for $800. Especially with two cats. Good luck looking! Has she found anything yet?

She told me she's seen apartments ads in papers for that much - I don't know where they were located - I'm sure if she tried something like Hewlett or Baldwin Harbor she's find they are much more than that but I'm just going by what she told me. I'm sure there are some landlords that would not mind cats if they have their own, as well. But thanks.

Mary, just make sure you tell her to be wary of basement apartments, especially in the Hempstead area. All basement apartments are illegal in Nassau, and trust me when I tell you that they usually come with far more trouble than they are worth.

Take this from someone who deals with landlords in and around Hempstead on a daily basis. She should do whatever she wants, obviously, but my professional opinion (not that you asked for it) is to just let her know about this and that she should be careful.

Tell her to look in fridays and Sundays newsday...Also in local newspapers and the Pennysaver as soon as they are released. The good apartments go fast.

I could of sworn I saw an advertisment somewhere that you could search for apartments that Landlords dont mind that you have pets.

Did you try www.craigslist.com
