My FSIL is getting married in 3 weeks, I'll be getting married 5 weeks later and then my FH's cousin is getting married 5 1/2 weeks after ours~! WOW!! Tons of weddings.
Anyway, any suggestions that I can do to make mine different from theirs? I'd like to add some frivolous details that they might not have had time to do.
Thanks.
Right now I have:
Programs Seating Chart not placecards

Re: Ideas for adding Personal Touches to your wedding
We made our own card box for my sister's wedding...everyone who's seen it loves the idea (which I got on the knot).
Here's how we did it...
First I bought 4 8x10 frames and 8 metal 'L' fasteners. The first thing we did was put the pictures in and attach the frames at the top and bottom. I bought a square piece of decorative wood from Michaels and painted that black for the base. Hot glue the frames to the base. Then I cut a foam square to fit inside the top of the frames and cut the slit throught it for the cards. I cut a piece of cardboard the same size and cut a slit in that too. Glue the foam to the cardboard. Then cover the foam with material. This was completely trial and error. I covered it, then pulled excess through the slit so that it would cover the inside of the slit. I then cut that so that we could pull it back and tape underneath. You can either use a glue gun or clear duct tape. I took those plastic hooks (you can get them in target) and place them upside down on each of the backs of the 4 frames so that when you place the material covered foam in the box it doesn't fall in. You can modify this for whatever works for you! Good luck!

Do you know what their color/flower choices are?
You could do cry packs butterfly or dove release (depending on the season)

heres some things i'm doing: - put the wedding pictures of guests on a grand piano (or table) when you first walk in with rose petals all around. - name the tables (rather than number them) - have a signiture drink

Re: Ideas for adding Personal Touches to your wedding
I am planning to have copies of both our parents wedding pictures framed along with our engagement picture and put them on the table with the place cards.
I also plan to have my band play both our parents wedding songs at some point and dedicate the the songs to them.
You can also do a special drink during your CH or reception.

Re: Ideas for adding Personal Touches to your wedding
I made my own cry packs, rose petal cones and will make programs. In addition to our favors, we'll also have baskets of slippers so if anyone's feet hurt they can take off their shoes and wear slippers. We'll have bags of candy to take as people leave, like getting a loot bag when we were kids.

Re: Ideas for adding Personal Touches to your wedding
We are both actors so we wanted to include our theatrical backgounds. We did our rehersal dinner invites as theatre tickets, our programs were playbills, we named the tables after shows we have done since we met, we ran in slow motion to the theme from Chariots of Fire for our introduction ( I was chasing him and got him).
We also had a black and white theme so we gave black and white cookie favors.
We also wrote our ceremony. From getting our friend ordained to our vows it was completely done by us.

Re: Ideas for adding Personal Touches to your wedding
Make the whole thing personal. Here's what we did (these are personal to us, so you'll want to think of your own):
Our favors reflected our values (donations announced on scrolls with a pamphlet from the charity we donated to on each table)
We provided tissue packs (that I made) to each guest
My mother in law was our officiant
Our siblings chose their own (or wrote) their readings
I had my mom and dad both walk me down the aisle, and had a female ring bearer (my niece) who walked down the aisle with the flower girl.
We had people throw organic lavender rather than bubbles or rice
We had quotes personal to us in the program and a dedication to DH's ill grandmother
Our guest book matched our invitations in handmade paper
I gave flowers from my bouquet to the mothers/grandmothers
My nieces picked rose petals off of our cake table and made a circle of petals around us during our first dance (this was their idea), then they shared our first dance with us
We had music that was both good and personal to us, rather than just stock tunes
Most of all-have a great time and don't worry about too much-if you're having fun and you are considerate of your guests, everyone will have fun. One thing we did to make it personal was to think of the people in our lives and make it special for them. For example giving the kids special gifts and time with us, giving our family members special gifts that mean something and making a celebration of the love and friendship in our lives out of our wedding. This is how it became personal.
Added: We filled baskets of necessities and put them in the bathrooms (spray deoderant, toothpicks, lotion, powder, hairspray, mints/breath spray, etc) and put a sign saying it was from us for our guests.

Re: Ideas for adding Personal Touches to your wedding
Please don't do butterfly release. Some of them always die before they are released, and it's cruel (they die from the stress of transport or improper handling).
I don't know about dove release, but I'd look into the ethics of that too.

Re: Ideas for adding Personal Touches to your wedding
Can someone please tell me what 'cry packets' are?
I'm guessing it is something to give out at the church for people that plan to cry during the ceremony.
Thanks!

they are fancy-dancy tissue packs - think Kleenex meets Martha Stewart.
