my school has banned those bracelets because of this craze.
i teach 5th grade and although some of my students were aware of the bracelets' 'significance' im not sure they were actively practicing the game!
it is sick, though ... they're so young.

Oh yeah, I heard. Disturbing, isn't it. My best friend teaches THIRD GRADERS and they wear them. It's the south bronx so half of her 3rd graders are around 11 but still!

i am a teacher and unfortunately I have heard of this. Times have changed and kids are very different than when we were in school. I can even see it at the elementary school.

This makes me sick. Parents need to be more involved in their childrens lives.

I saw it on the news about a month ago. What gets me is this mother who allowed her daughter to be on the news to expose that she is involved with this game.

Sorry I don't get this?
Your mad at the mom for letting her daughter go to the news about it? Or mad cause she let her daughter be used in the actual story? Or did you just say the mother herself was involved?... Sorry, just got lost with that.

Personally I thought truth or dare got REALLY rowdy around that age. 12 yrs old I was in 7th grade.. So that seems about right.

In one school (I think I was in 5th grade) the 'game' was those little tags off the guys shirts (The one in the back where the pleats are, back in the 80's there was a small piece of material there). We'd rip them off (yes ruining the shirts) for kisses. Same for your jeans loops off girls.

These things will happen. Regardless of when. I don't really see this as different from when we were kids. A small clique does stupid crap and all kids in that age group get labeled. Not all the kids are that stupid.

I don't think this is any different at all from other games we ourselves played. If the parents a better handle on their children and their relationships with their kids were stronger then it shouldn't shock them that this stuff happens. My dad knew everything (not my mom). He let me be wild up to a point and pulled me back when it would go too far. The trust we had let me tell him the truth and that trust let him believe I was ok to make my decisions.

I find it odd that these parents are blaming the schools instead of disciplining their children!.

Schools should teach children education only and not be held responsible for other life-related things that they can't control such as Sex, drugs, gangs and manners. Not to say they should encourage this stuff.

Parents should teach children the differences between right and wrong as well showing respect. Parents should be the ones who drill their kids about not having sex, no smoking and how to be civil decent citizens. Instead of blaming schools for not being able to give one on one constant supervision of their own children.
