Re: Project of the week #2 - Any ideas?

I am 99% sure I'm doing the votive placecards.... I had planned to figure out some kind of template over the summer but I never really got around to it... if anyone has one I'd love it!

Placecard Candles Directions

You will need: Plain glass votive holders; light -medium weight transparent vellum; access to a Laser printer, a good scissors; double sided tape; tealights

Step One: Measure your votive holders to determine the approximate height and length around. Using these measurements, make a template of the shape of your label. Note that even the most plain votive holders will have a slight curvature, so expect the template to be in an arch shape.

Step Two: Using the approximate measurements, set up your MS Word (or any other graphic program that is useful for printing text) document to space your guests names and table numbers the right distance. In my case, I got 3 to a page with room to spare.

Step Three: Print out your document. Use the template you made in step one to cut the right shape out of the larger sheets of vellum. Set the labels aside.

Step Four: (get a friend to help if at all possible) Set up a big workstation with all your votives, labels, double sided tape and scissors. Wrap one label around the votive and trim accordingly. When the label is lined up correctly, it will lay relatively flat. Apply the double sided tape and put aside. Having all of the candles in front of you will allow you to keep a consistent appearance of the candles and give you a preview of what they will look like all lined up at the wedding.

Tips: Have candles lit no more than 30 minutes before your guests come to pick them up to ensure they are all still burning when the last guest leaves your reception.

Tip: Using tealights in place of votive candles will result in the candles getting warm but not too hot to touch. However, there is melted wax inside the votive so better to keep away from children

I'm doing picture frame place cards, the votive ones are sooo pretty, but because FH father has a vision plm, dimming the lights is out, so they would lose their effect..

I am making my own tent cards. I got black cardstock and then I used some ivory paper to type out table number and the names. So the card will sit on the table with the guests names facing forward. On the back will be the table number which will be designed to match the table numbers - on the table.

Here's the way I want to set up the placecard table:

i am using christmas trees to hang papar snowflake place cards - i will have the names separated into different parts of the alphabet A-F,G-M, and N-Z or something like that - Also i will have two people there to cut them off the tree so it is faster

The other idea is to use picture frame ornaments and have the names inside but i have yet to find ones i like that are reasonably priced

These all look so nice.

Ang - I can't wait to see yours when they're done. I like the idea of putting the framed photo too.

Thank you! I am very excited to see how it comes out. We are using one of our e-pics and I went to Macy's and got an 8x11 frame on sale. It's black with ivory mats around the pic. I'm hoping it all falls together. The placecards are almost done - just need to print the names and then assemble. Can't wait to show everyone and see waht you all think.

I believe I still have a templete saved on my computer if you want it. It is too small for the holders we bought. I'm more than happy to share.
