Desperately need to find homes for cats!

Desperately need to find homes for cats!

Since my mom got hurt and our financial situation has changed drastically we can no longer care for the 12 cats we've rescued over the years. We have older ones who are sick and need extra care, but we would like to find homes for the younger ones.

We have 5 younger animals 2-3 years old who really need loving homes.

Daisy and Lily (we would like to keep them together), both very affectionate. Daisy is white with black spots, and Lily is black with a little white, with long, beautiful fluffy hair and a fluffy tail she loves to sway.

Smoky is their brother. He's grey and SO beautiful. very friendly! He would do really well in a single cat household.

Tony- is also grey, but with long fluffy hair. Very beautiful, gets along well with other cats, but doesn't really like to be touched!

Frankie (4 years old) - He's an orange tabby cat, declawed and defanged. He's a very gentle and loving cat who loves to sit on your lap or lounge in the sun, but he would really do better in a single cat household.

We really need to find good homes for these animals. They're all so beautiful and we love them all, but we can't give them the care and love they seserve!

I really wish I could help, but I already have nine cats in the house, and three others we care for outside.

Good luck in finding new homes for them.

WOW I think its amazing that you've cared for so many! I wish I could help, but I've taken in two strays and now caring for another injured cat who is pregnant... So there will be 5+ in my house soon.
I will keep my ears open for you and let you know if anyone is looking to adopt a cat..
You should post picts of them, usually when people see the animals they fall in love and cant resist!
Good luck!

Re: Desperately need to find homes for cats!

thanks. i'm going to try to get pics up this weekend. That's the hard thing rescuing cats..you end up with more and more..we've cared for SO many, and litters of baby kittens, and fed them from bottles when we had to. We've had probably 30 cats in and out of our house and garage. We'd been doing ok with our 12, but now that the older ones are getting sick it's getting harder to give them ALL attention, plus my mom recently fell and hurt her hands, and also our financial dituation has totally changed, so we have more than we can handle. I'll try to get soem pics up. thanks for the kind words and for keeping your eyes and ears open!

Try posting on petfinder.org, craigslist, and try the websites of local shelters (sometimes they let outsiders post for free). Most vets and small independent pet stores will allow posting too.

Just make sure you have a contract and a fee for each animal you find homes for - to make sure they aren't being picked up by bunchers (the name of people who scour adoption sites for free animals, pick them up and then sell them to laboratories for testing - there are a bunch of labs on Long Island and in New Jersey, so this is a common practice around here.

Charge at least $40 an animal, to make sure they are not going to take them to profit off of them). Also, this ensures that the person adopting will make the financial and emotional commitment.
