I had one and I was not tripping over my dress at all.

The point of the bustle is to NOT trip over your train. Mine worked great, I didn't have any problems dancing or walking around in my gown.

This is the only pic I have of it right now... but I'll post a better one later...

Re: french bustle

I had wanted a french bustle, but it just didn't look right with the style of my gown, so I went with a traditional bustle.

I had a double french bustle and had no problems with it.

I had a french bustle too. I loved it. I will have to find a pic when I get home.

Here is a tip: Have your seamstress color-code the thread/buttons (it's all underneath and won't be seen anyway). This will help whoever has the daunting task of correctly bustling your dress for you.

My dress was so slim fitting that the French bustle was the only style I could use on my dress without having it look bad! :) I absolutely loved it, it was so cute the way everything just looked so tucked in and neat! here's a couple of pics

I had the same bustle as you and you are so right!! It should be color coded. I loved the way this bustle looked and I had no problems with the dress but I will tell you that my sister and friend and also the girl assighned to me had a hard time bustling it and I walked into my reception 15 minutes late because of it.
That was my thing that went wrong that day.
I don't regret the bustle but I do think that the color code idea is wonderful and wish I had done that.

My seamstress numbered the ribbons so it was easy. You just had to tie ribbon #1 with the other ribbon #1, etc.
