I didnt think I could either but I have such bad sinus pain and pressure along with TMJ that I thought I would try this.

I just did some quick research on it. I am a speech pathologist and have knowlege of the ear as we had to take many classes on hearing. I thought that it could cause damage to your eardrum being that it is supposed to suck out wax.
I found a lot of articles.. Each one had a different view.
Here is one that I found
ear candling

It is enough to scare me. You are not even supposed to use q-tips in your ears. In our hearing classes they always told us.. Nothing smaller than your elbow goes in your ear. You are only supposed to use q-tips to clear your outer ear because you can puncture your eardrum and ear wax is needed in your ear.

Not to tell you what to do or anything.. I just remember what I learned in grad school. Let me know how it goes though. I am curious to see if they do pull anything out. (eww gross). THe article scared me.. but didn't stop my curiosity about it

I am really really curious about acupuncture to relieve sinus pressure.. since I really suffer from this to.

Seriously though.. let me know if the ear candling relieves it.. You may change my mind. Not everything you learn in school is always the best and alternative medicine has it place!

I do it and LOVE it!!!

I have a lot of problems with my ears while flying, so I've candled them at times when i return home. It totally doesn't hurt, but it is weird to hear the wax cackaling(?) and drawing out from your ear canal. I feel like it's really cleansing, and it draws out excess wax and ear infection.

Let us know how it works out for you!

My sister heard it on Z100 and told her boyfriend about it, and he said his mom has been doing it to him since he was 8 years old.

I listened that morning on Z100. It was so weird.. Greg T was saying it sounded like sparklers were crackleing in his ear.. He felt a little heat but he overall thought it was great.. I am leary about it but if you come back with positive feedback I may.. I have the worst sinsus and ear problems.. especially during spring.

Good Luck!!
