Re: Newlyweds: question regarding how you tipped your vendors
My cousin took the leftover money and I still can't figure out what happened Here's what she decided on :
Maitre D: $300 for 125 guests (there were some minor issues with the setup of my room and she said that she took that into consideration when tipping)
Bridal Assistant: $50 (she spilled my water on the guest book and pretty much ruined it,but she was awesome otherwise)
Band: I think she gave $100 to EACH of the lead singers; $50 to the secondary singer, and then another $300 for the rest to share)
Limo: $0. ISSUES!!!
Hair: 3 hairdressers, I think $50 among the 3. They work for DH's uncle and didn't cut us any kind of deal whatsoever, even though they told him that they would
Makeup: The makeup guy did some extra work (lips for 2 BMs, eyebrows for 1 BM), so I gave him $50 or $60
eta: gave the local florist $50 and he did NOT deserve a penny

Re: Newlyweds: question regarding how you tipped your vendors
Matre D - $250 for 96 people
Bridal Attendant - $100
Photographer - $200 on the day i got my proofs. He was unbelievable to work with and i loved my pictures, i should have tipped more.
Flowers- not sure SIL tipped him i wasnt there yet.
DJ $200
Officiant $50 which he didnt deserve since he changed my entire ceremony without consulting with me first. He cut out my readers, added a poem for himself to read. And announced my brothers memorial candle when i asked him not to because it was something private just for my parents, thats why i didnt put it in the programs.
Video- havent tipped yet. Will tip at least minimum $250 when i get my video, he was so cool to work with, and has been after the wedding to, dealing with all my changes to the video as in adding more pics, adding more music, and some other changes.
Bar tender $50
ETA: oh and i tipped the hairdresser $30, but that was before i knew she had cut off my hair, since i didnt notice until i got home.

Not per head, I cut and pasted
I paid Maitre D $200 and had already paid him $300 for being my BM too

Re: Newlyweds: question regarding how you tipped your vendors
How much is relative, I think I DEFINITELY undertipped some vendors who were amazing, but I had ZERO money left that night since I could barely scrape together tip money. If you can. do a 'guideline' and then bring some extra cash, just in case someone deserves more (wish I had)...this is what I did the day of:
Hair - $20 (and I REALLY WISH I HADN'T - what an idiot I am...but whatever, it was already 'calculated'. She didn't deserve it though.)
Make-up - $25
Limos - $50 each driver (there were 2, and yes, their tip was included in my contract price, but they were AMAZING)
Photographer - $50 for the 6 hour one and $100 for the 10 hour one (DEFINITELY under tipped here)
Videographer - $50 for assistant and $100 for 'main' (also under tipped)
Maitre 'D - $400 (it was a little more than $4 per guest)
Bridal attendant - $75 (should have given her $100)
DJ - $100
Percussionist - $50

I didn't go overboard with the tipping because we were running out of cash at the end, but we did spend at least 1300 total tipping people.

Re: Newlyweds: question regarding how you tipped your vendors
Reception site Managers: $150 each Chef: $200 (I did my reception at a restaurant, so I actually met the chef. The food was outstanding.) DJ: $200 Photographer: $300 (he rocked! I loved him) Hair: over 20%, plus a gift sent to him, because he stayed ALL day to do touch ups and then took pictures during the ceremony to give it more coverage. For example he took pictures of my and the girls lining up, which my main photographer couldn't get because he was at the other end of the aisle. Make up: 20% + Starbucks card in thank you note Chocolate Fountain attendant: 18% Ceremony musicians: $40 per head
We also had a envelope for the 'floor staff' - waiters, bar tenders etc.

We tipped the MD about $4 per person, and the Bridal Attendant $150 (recm'd $75-$100)
However, you DO NOT have to tip the Banquet Manager.

Re: Newlyweds: question regarding how you tipped your vendors
Why do we tip the Video and Photographer? isint that there job the DJ is another story because they pretty much do requests and other things that are not known until the wedding.
