Help needed with Shadow Boxes for collecting cards...

I've heard that some brides & grooms use shadow boxes (the box with pictures of them all over) as a way to collect the cards at their reception. Somehow there is a slit in the box for guests to deposit the envelope with their 'gift' to the bride & groom. How do you make this or can you buy it somewhere? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hopefully, I am using the correct terminology for this contraption! If not, sorry & what would you call it?

TIA

Has any past brides used this idea at their reception?
Or does anyone have any idea what I am even talking about (LOL)?

We made ours pretty easily... I call it a photo cube though :)

We bought 4 11x14' frames, 2 pieces of styrofoam, about 8 'L' brackets... 2 black hankerchiefs... photo mats.. and we ended up getting a lazy susan to put it on. Oh and we decorated it using some stuff we had.

Pretty much we used the L brackets to attach the frames together... we cut a hole in the styrofoam and put a hankerchief over it to cover the white... then wedged it in the top and supported it (which you can use L brackets for... just glue them onto the backs of the frames!)... we haven't done the bottom yet but we are going to put an L bracket in to hold the syrofoam and then sand the lazy susan to wedge that into the bottom so it spins!

This is how we attached the L brackets...

We made ours as well. I call it our Photo Box.

Bought 4 frames, and large thick piece of foam, L brackets, two pieces of wood for the base, some type of metal dowl or rod thing (both of those were to create the spinning base). We bought silver wood frames so we needed to spray paint the wood base metallic silver also.

I used the foam as the top, cut a large slit in it, and then covered with material. My FH and Dad put together the wood part. The foam went inside the top of the box and it was a perfect tight fit so it won't fall through.

I don't have pics on my work computer and I'm heading home to NY this weekend (first dress fitting!), but if you FM me I'll send you pics when I get back to michigan next week.
