I went to a wedding here on Saturday and i have a few comments. I hope no one takes it the wrong way i am just trying to be helpful and make you aware of certain things again it is my opinion so don't take it the wrong way.
First thing first the service was amazing. The staff was very attentive and helpful to everyone.
The food was amazing. The salad was warm and seemed to have been sitting around for a while but the dinner made up for it. The waffle bar was a hit i went back for seconds.
My one complaint is that the room was musty and many guests were commenting on this. Once you were in the room you got use to it but when you walked in/out of the room it was not pleasant. It might have been due to the fact that it was raining on and off all day but i figured i would give you guys a head up.
One more thing make sure that the staff tells your guest that their are other stations throughout the hall in different rooms for the cocktail hour. Some guest including myself didnt realize that there were other stations in other rooms in the hall until we were directed into the reception hall.

I think those were fine points to bring to people's attention- certainly things I would want to know in order to avoid happening at my function. It helps people learn and can only help caterers more.

Re: Carlyle on the Green Wedding Experience
I appreciate your honesty! Thats what this site is for...
Hopefully the musty smell was just a freaky thing. I have been there many times, and I've never smelled that. And I am the Queen of smelling things! (It's a pain sometimes...my mom makes fun of me all the time )
The way the stations are set up is kind of confusing, I'll give you that. I know they set a few in the room, one in the hall and then if you need more room, that small room across the hall. Don't worry, I'll be sure to share the info with my guests ahead of time. I wouldn't want them to leave ANY food left untouched.
I know the staff is great So that is a definite comfort. How was the wedding cake? Thats the only thing I'm worried about.
Thanks again for your honesty... and I hope you had a great time!

Actually the cake wasnt great but the other deserts they had were fantastic my favorite was the waffle/ice cream bar. yum yum.
the cake was chocolate cake and whip cream filling. the appearance was very very pretty.
I was really full by the time the cake came by so maybe i was just full.
Me and fi had a great time it was a lot of fun.

THanks! I'm not a fan of whip cream, so I wouldn't have liked that cake either I'm a buttercream person

The musty smell is wierd...what time of day was the wedding? I don't know if that would have anything to do with it. But, thanks for the info, I appreciate it!

Well MUSTY sounds yucky! However did you go to the night wedding or the day wedding there...The day one was a PORN STAR wedding, and quite hysterical from what my FH says....so who knows where the smell could have been coming from. May-be the guy who pulled the garter off the girl wiped his fingers on the chair, after doing some nasty stuff....

Re: Carlyle on the Green Wedding Experience
I went to a wedding at the Carlyle last month and it was one of the nicest weddings I've ever been to. . . there was enough food to obliterate world hunger. I didn't notice a musty smell at all! It must have been b/c of the rain. . .

He bartends there...so he sees a LOT of weddings, but the Porn wedding was by FAR the craziest yet. Our DJ was also working that wedding, called my FH the next day to go on and on about it...well you know guys , a room full of big boobs....they can't help themselves
Thank good ness you went to the night wedding, I was afraid of getting yelled at for chuckling about this one, hehe
