Our Wedding Story @ The Milleridge Cottage (EXTREMELY LONG)

We had the most amazing day--so much better than I even expected --can you believe that one!!

I just want to say that if you do it right you can enjoy every minute of the entire day/weekend--I am extremely detail oriented and had lists and lists of things and it solved every issue that come up-- without having to explain myself a thousand times--by the end of the weekend the joke was everyone wanted to see the list that named all the lists!!!!!

Where to begin-- it all started Friday--the rehearsal was great ---groom and family were stuck in traffic on LIE(coming from NJ) so we started without them!!! but thankfully they got there in time!!

Sat -- hair and makeup at Cactus Salon in Plainview-- they all did a great job (4 girls in total worked on all of us)

leave more time than you think for this -we cut it short --appointments started at 10:00 we didnt leave till 12:20 or so--
got dressed in 5 minutes-- and was ready for photographer and throngs of people waiting in lobby

I stayed at the Holiday Inn in Plainview-- I would recommend the lobby to those who need a place--the preliminary pics look great

Our vendors--
Photo & Video--Cassarino Dominic was great(photo) long story on cassarino for those that are interested--I had a detailed list that I had given him and he had it in hand--make sure you get an assistant as well--makes a world of difference

Limo-after our saga(which continued the night before with THAT limo company calling us asking why we hadnt payed the rest of the money--enough said) we ended up using Top of the World Limo--they were good

The Cottage--I can not say enough-- every detail was attended to --we added a bunch of stuff to the menu --like we changed a beer from Heineken to Sam Adams(Jeremy's favorite) they served both all night at no cost-- we added shrimp cocktail to the already extensive cocktail hour(my favorite) and I was being handed plates and plates the entire time!!!

Steve was our maitre-d -- we had hoped for him since we have heard such great things about him--absolutely phenomenal-- our bridal attendant and waiter were amazing as well-- I cant say enough about the service--food-- ambiance--attention to detail

and now the FLORIST-- we used the milleridge florist and everything was amazing-- to the point that we couldnt believe-- our flowergirls(5 in all) were carrying blue hydrangea bouquets and they day before the wedding i went to the florist to give them the pew bows and saw how beautiful the hydrangea were-- well when i walked into the atrium--they had surprised us with floating hydrangea in bubble bowls-- it was amazing to see the bright blue all over the room--

I would recommend them highly and do not think they were high priced as i was told--they also made us a HUGE bouquet(like a vase bouqet) of flowers for our anniversary dance-in replace of the throw away bouquet that is usually included--they went above and beyond--to the point that Chris was out in tHE village with us taking pics of all the kids (we had 7 total-- 5 girls and 2 boys) and the flowers looked amazing with their outfits
I think that is everything--

some little extras--- the programs came out great--I know a few of you are making the same ones--talk to me about the ribbon(another long story)

we made rose petal cones on the computer --another hit--

I had made up pics of our parents wedding pictures ANd put them side by side in a silver bifold frame and surprised our parents with them--we also made the same pic and frame for our parents table

Cameras on the table--15 exposure --
also put cameras for kids on table that i found for under $2--they had a ball with them

also did goody bags for kids at receptions with name printed on bag--dont think they even opened them!!

had personalized coloring books made up for kids as well--those were given at start of Rehearsal dinner-- Marios in Hauppauge--phenomenal as well

I think that is everything

Our honeymoon--2 amazing weeks in Aruba-- plenty of info/suggestions on that for anyone that is going---

Thanks to all that helped -- I have been coming to this board since Dec 1999--- so I have gotten so much info/help etc from all of you !!!

One last thing--we got home from our honeymoon last night and as we were being driven home we realized that both our cars were at Jeremys parents so we stopped there--
well when we got home there was a bride and groom windsock hanging on our front door--and set up in the living room was a little spread---champange and our flutes--an entire wedding album of over 200 pics-- shrimp cocktail(my favorite) a cheese nad meat tray and a stocked refrigerator--

MY MIL went through all the trouble--even cleaned the condo-- an amazing end to a whirlwind 2 weeks!!

Laura..I have been here with you since January of 2000..How wonderful to hear that everything was beyond fantastic for both of you. And what a great mother in law you have!!!! I too am a fanatical planner so it is nice to know that it actually works.

I was thinking of you yesterday. My fiance and I happened to be driving past Alladin and saw 4 police cars, a bunch of police and a man dressed in a tux out front, having what appeared to be a heated arguement. So I guess you were not the only one who has had problems!!!

It sounds like you had the perfect day! If you don't mind, could you tell me what you put in the kids' goody bags? Where did you find the kids cameras? Do you have a phone number for Marios. I appreciate any information.

You said that there was a story behind the ribbon for the programs. I'm going to start putting mine together in about a week. Can you tell us what happened with it?

Question for Laura

My wedding is in July 2002 on a Friday night at crest Hollow country club in Woodbury. Most of my family is coming from New Jersey. How long did it take for the groom's family to get there from NJ, and where in NJ?

How weird...my wedding is 8/2/02 at the Crest Hollow and all of my family will be coming from NJ as well. I can tell you that from north Jersey (lyndhurst, etc...) it should take about an hour and 15 min (without traffic). From South Jersey (Barnegat, Toms River) it'll take about 2-1/2. What hotel are you blocking for your guests? Who did you speak with at Crest Hollow?

Well most of my family is coming from Central NJ, but on a Friday we're expecting a lot of traffic. There's already bickering throughout the family about it. Jeffrey Saber is my banquet manager, and I spoke to Sharon about my vendors. She was very helpful. We think we are going to book the Mariott, whe prices aren't that high, and breakfast buffet is included for the guests. We will also book the East Norwich Inn and the Huntington Country Inn. What room are you using? We're using the Emerald Room for dinner, with the cocktail hour outside (hopefully) if no rain.

I too am booked at the Crest Hollow for August 10 2001! If the weather is good we plan to have our cocktails outside by the pool and dinner at the Emerald room. I blocked rooms at the Fairfield Inn by Marriott.

Is it the Marriot Melville? How much are the rooms? Jeff is our Banquet Manager as well. He's great. We are using the Starlight room upstairs (because of size). The ceremony will be outside there, but cocktail hr inside (Sun.). I looked at the Huntington Country Inn and was not impressed. It was dirty and no one would show us a room. Did you personally go there? Also, where is the East Norwich Inn? How far from Crest Hollow? I think we are blocking at the Executive Inn @ Woodbury. Even though it's more of a motel, it's right across the street and it's clean. Any info would be appreciated.

Laura,

I am so happy for both of you!! God bless and best wishes for a wonderful life together.

As a fellow Milleridge bride, I am so glad to hear that everything went well.

Can I just ask where they set up the placecards for reception seating? Just trying to picture in my head.

Did you have a DJ or band? Where did you have them set up-in the middle as Nadine suggested to us or off to the side in corner, which is what fi wants to do?

I'm sure I'll have more questions as I think of things.

Thanks and congratulations again,
Helen
