Can you just tell them that they are loud and waking you up in the middle of the night? They will get the point without saying it!

I would not do that.

So you would rather be woken up at 3 am every day?

Re: How can I 'politely' tell my tenants...

Interesting post.....since this happened to me. My neighbors just refused to move the bed away from the wall for some reason. We could hear them every time because of what I assume is the headboard banging against the shared wall.

It was not all the time - maybe a few times a week? After about a month of trying to ignore it, I distributed a letter to all the surrounding neighbors (pretending not to know it was them) noting the loud, late-night noises and asking that they please make repairs to their apartment during the day. I was not brave enough to say 'please move your bed a few inches off the wall so we wont' have to hear you having $ex'. I sent a copy of the letter to the Board too.

The night before the letter was the last time I heard them. Not sure if they move the bed or just had a huge fight Either way, it's over.

If you live in a place like mine where it's possible to act like you are not sure who is keeping you up at night, send a note to all of them.

You said tenants so I assume it's a house and they are the only possible culprit If so, I would have DH pull the guy aside and let him know or you pull the woman aside and tell her the problem.

Oh My God. Your tenant sounds like me. Years ago we had an apartment above our landlord and we had wood floors, so the bed wood glide across the floor... . And we had no idea (at the moment) that we were that loud, but they just politely asked us not to move the furniture around in the middle of the night..... . The next day we went out bought an area rug. And we lived peacefully after that.

OH JEEEEEEEEEZ! how awful!

well, as much as this is , you need your rest.

I would probably leave them a note saying something like 'you are wonderul tenants, etc etc... but would it possible to keep it down in the middle of the night since the walls in this house are thin? thank you in advance, sleepless on Long Island'

definitely say something!

The management of the complex called us day one and just say - um you were a little loud last night your neighbors complained, could you try to keep it down. Even though she didnt say sex, I was so LOL

I'd leave a note, but just say they were too loud or something..

i would say it dpends on your relation with them...if they are family or friends then i would just come out with it...if not just say something is going on in your apartment around 3-3:30 in the morning almost every night.... can u keep down?

That is so horrible!

Can't you just bang on the floor and see if they get the hint....

OMG....I would perhaps leave them a note re: moving furniture so you don't have to confront them face to face.

How's this......

Hey guys….

I hate to be a pest, but wanted to know if you guys could be a little quieter in the middle of the night. We both have to be up for work at 5:30 and over the past few weeks we have been woken up on several occasions at around 3 am. Hope you understand.

Thank you.

totally appropriate! they will probably feel so bad about it. I'm sure they have no clue that anyone can hear them.
