favors or no favors?

favors or no favors?

I have been talking to alot of people today and the consensus seems to be-- no favors. The people I spoke to all said that they did not care if there were favors or not, especially if you have placecard holders that double as favors. They said 99% of time they do not look at them again, especially if the bride and grooms name is on it somewhere, and people who have recently gotten married all agreed that if they could have saved money on one thing, it would be to eliminate favors.

I am on the fence. Any input ladies?

Ditto - donations and some small seashell shaped mints (to match theme). I would rather give to donation than spend $$$ on favors that 1/2 the people will probably toss!

Favors are not necessary, IMO. If people come to your wedding for a favor they are missing the point of a wedding. With that said, the best favors have to be edible/drinkable or a donation. Of course useful things are always great (like wine stoppers)...otherwise, skip it or do a donation.

We were on the fence about this for quite some time too. In my opinion, i don't think favors serve a point. I've been to weddings where half of them were left on the tables. I've also been to a wedding where there weren't any favors and NO ONE noticed!!! I would save yourself the $300 bucks and put that money towards something else. JMO.

if you are looking for an easy way to cut back - IMO favors is it.

Im donating $ on behalf of my grandfather who died of Pancreatic Cancer. It breaks my heart that he wont be there so this is my way to honor him

i donated to st. judes in lieu of a traditional favor. i totally agree that most of the time no one cares about the favor - but i do think people will care when there isnt a favor.

my advice is if your using your placecard holders to double as the favor - go with it. people will have nothing to say if they leave with something.

We are doing a donation favor as well as a token favor- breast cancer awareness car magnet...wrapped in a pillow box.

I have never been to a wedding where there were no favors- HOWEVER I would NOT mind if there werent ... From what I hear, there are VERY expensive affairs who do not have favors.

I say if you find something/an idea you love...go for it...donation and/or edible are in my opinion, the best way to go...but if you do not find something you love....dont worry about it

i am not doing a favor.. we are doing a donation.. favors are a waste of money.. and people usually throw them out anyway...

I love favors! I'm actually giving out three!! Yep, I'm completely nuts......What some may see as a 'waste of money' isn't to everyone else.....

Most people I spoke to love them as well. You can do them very cheaply (2 truffles in tulle, for example).

BUT, will people get mad at you for not having them? No! And if they do, they have issues!!!

Its so funny bc even though that all favors I've ever gotten were useless...I still get a little excited over favors...whatever they might be.

one favor is fine.

Re: favors or no favors?

In all honesty, I didn't want to do a favor either, but I was told by a number of people that it would be inconsiderate not to...?!?!?!

So, I tried to come up with a favor that wasn't too expensive yet useful. I did maple syrup favors to go with our fall country setting.

You don't need to spend 15 bucks per favor, but I would do a little something at least.....

Granted, it is probably one of the biggest pains in the asses to come up with, but just because it's hard to find something doesn't mean it should be scrapped....yes you are paying for them to come to your wedding, and yes they are giving you a gift, and YES the point is to celebrate your wedding.......but it's nice to give your guests a little something to go home with. JMHO

Honestly, I always forget to take the favor with me... Edible favors are the best I think.
