What did your RSVP say (for those not having kids at their wedding)
Hi Ladies,
I've read it's an ongoing headache for all brides that are not having young children at their wedding and I'm hoping to get some words of wisdom from those that have dealt with this already.
If you weren't having young children at your wedding and were concerned that guests might think the kids are invited .....
What did your RSVP card say to help clarify this ?????
Thank You !!!!

I would think its just common sense if the invite isnt addresses to 'Family'. No?

You would think...but some people just don't get it. I think that a lot of people put Adult Reception on their invites.

Mine was:
We have reserved '# of seats' in your honor. will be attending: ______ will not be attending:______ Number of guests attending:______
I specifically typed the number of seat reserved on each invite.

We're experiencing this headache as well. Adult only affair which we're having age 18 and older only. FH's family is too big and the guest list is out of control...we're up to 310 already with a 250 minimum!!
I can relate so, on the envelope itself will only be those who are invited specifically. i.e.: Mr and Mrs Michael Smith
The RSVP says:
'The favour of a reply is requested' Before April 7th, 2007 M_____________________ Number of Persons _____
So basically if the guest replies with 3 or 4 people and we know we only invited Mr. and Mrs. Michael Smith, then we have to get on their case and say, I'm sorry, but we only invited you and your wife meaning 2 guests.' I know people's noses will get out of joint, but tough it's our wedding and this is what we want. HTH and Good Luck!

for those who didn't see it in my thread:
'We have reserved ____ places in your honor'
and filled in the number, so they know it's just TWO ppl.
also--on the invite we put 'Adult reception immediately following'. you can put that on the reception card if you have one. (we don't have one so that's why it's on the invite)
but as you saw from my big long vent...ppl still have balls and cross out things and do what they want!

This is what I am going to do too. Its better off specifically pointing out that you have ONLY reserved those seats for them and not how many ever people they want to bring.

Re: What did your RSVP say (for those not having kids at their wedding)
I agree with these posts. If you don't want kids at your wedding, don't assume that by just inviting Mr and Mrs So and So that they will get the message. I had one woman decide that her daughter would be her date when we only invited her and her husband. Everything worked out fine in the end and I actually really enjoyed having a few kids there. But save yourself the headache and write Adult Reception.

Re: What did your RSVP say (for those not having kids at their wedding)
I just want to warn you ladies that people do brings kids without your permission. No matter how hard you try, people do what they want. My MIL told her friend, do not let your daughter bring her baby. Her friend literally screamed at her that her grandson would not be there. Well, guess what, there's a little baby sitting in one of my table pictures.
On a good note, though, having a few straggler kids did not do anything. I barely saw them. It was not a big deal. Rude, yes, but nothing to make me upset or angry.

thats very easy for people to just add how many ever they want, doesn't specify no children either. You basically are giving them the option of putting down whatever number they want.
