Going Green!

Going Green!

NBC's Today show just had a special on GOING GREEN for your wedding day-
As in Organic food and flowers. Recycled Gold for your wedding bands, using solar power for the bands equipment or lighting, and a dress that you can reuse,, and reuse often.

I was wondering if we have any 'green brides'? I think there was an 07'er who was a 'green bride'. The couple was featured in Newsday this past spring.

I am hoping my MOH will reuse her dress again and again. I am not having a bridal party so she can pick the dress herself and I will be flexible on the color choice. So it will be mostly her decision.

I read that article in newsday. It was great and it's a great idea but it's just so expensive! I wish I wasn't poor or I would help the environment.

07 HUSBAND crashing here.

We are by no means rich, and couldn't come close to affording the 100% recycled paper invites, but we did a bunch of things, but I think the biggest thing to remember is this- don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good. there are simple things you can do that aren't that expensive. For example, we designed our own save the date cards and printed them on 100% tree free paper, it was slightly more than your conventional vistaprint or whatever, but it was a good thing.

There are lots of other things you can do:
Potted plants/herbs as centerpieces that you can give away

ask your caterer to get locally grown stuff where possible

provide vans to keep people from driving

you can do evites or specialized email invitations to some events to cut down on paper.

remember: don't think you can't make a difference just because one or two things are mad expensive. Some stuff is pretty easy to do and makes a big difference.
