HEY LOVIN OVEN BRIDES(and anyone else who wants to help) what were your....
Cocktail hour stations???? I'm having a hard time picking what might be the best...I was kinda thinking:
Pasta Station- we already get mussels and ravioli and stuff (we had them include fried calamari too), but maybe as pasta choices- penne a la vodka and either the orechette w/ broccoli rabe, sausage in a garlic and oil sauce or the bowtie pasta w/ shrimp and broccoli
Spanish Station (and getting the Skirt Steak and having that Carved to order like a carving station, but with more stuff) and we already get the paella
????
Maybe Caribbean Grill and doing the Macadamia crusted mahi fingers and the skewers of prawns and veggies but I don't want what it comes with on the side.....
OR Should I just do a Turkey Carving and have all the stuffing and gravy and stuff it comes with....
IDK its really hard....remember this is for April....do people want turkey and stuff in April????
OK so please help!!! FH and I are at a loss....

Pick food that u guys like---your guests will like it too. Maybe if your parents or FIL's like a certain food, have some of that too.

I like the Caribbean Grill idea. It sounds different and gets people pumped up for the summertime...

The thing is, my guest s are typical old school Brooklyn italians and queens Irish....they might be like- WHAT THE HELLL is this thing? And then try it and love it....I was just wondering if anyone picked something in particular and thought it was awesome or wasn't quite about it so much....

Maybe look on Brides Review and see other Lovin Oven Brides and FM them? Those gals probably have the best insight since they just had their weddings...
I like the idea of Caribbean grill but maybe something familiar like the turkey would be good for your guests!!

Well we were going to carve the skirt steak at the spanish station....but there's no poultry anywhere...its all steak and seafood. The have cavatelli with grilled chicken and roasted red and yellow peppers in the pasta station but it just dosen't sound as a appealing as the broccoli rabe and sausage or the shrimp....Idk
ETA: There's a couple chicken things passed but there's a chance we wont even do chicken as an entree choice....we might do the porkchop instead so.....yea....no idea.....but you know my family...they're not that big of chicken eaters. I'm more concerned about the other guests.

hey!
we did the pacific rim as one of our stations-- thats with the asian fusion kinda food. it had shiitake mushrooms and snowpeas and terryake chicken, etc... it was delicious and we got compliments on it b/c it was 'unique' and not something people ever had before at a wedding. we just picked it b/c we like that food.
our carving station was the roasted vermont turkey- i picked that for my dad b/c he likes that a lot and there was no turkey anywhere else on our menu-- lotsa beef, fish and chicken but no turkey so i thought it would be a good choice-- my dad said it was, hands down, the BEST turkey he has ever had- he was curious how they prepared it-- like, how could it have come out that good so that was cool to get raves on that.
hmm- we also did the pasta-- with orrechette (sp?) and broccoli rabe b/c my FIL loves that so we chose that being that he and lots of other italians would be there-- with sausage and peppers and stuff like that-- and let me tell you! it did NOT disappoint! the italians loved it
i can't remember any of the others-- but the pacific rim was a hit-- I THINK that was the name of it-- it was the one with the teriyake glaze and chicken and snowpeas and shiitake mushrooms.
HTH!

We did the turkey station and the mashed potato bar since the wedding was November. I didn't eat any, but I heard they were both yummy.
We also picked the Spanish station and had paella and something else with veal. I had a few bites of the paella--it was good.
We made those selections since filet mignon was one of the entree options and we wanted to spread out the meat choices a little.
We chose one upgrade for the wedding, and that was the sushi bar. Since we had that, I didn't think we needed the Pacific Rim station, too. (Although, it did sound really good.)
Whatever you choose is going to be great!

ok i just looked at their menu online...
we chose the:
thai stir fried chicken with pea pods and shiitake mushrooms
ginger glazed seared sea scallops over asian veggies... wow!!
it was really great and people love asian fusion so it's something that is not only unique but really a crowd pleaser- we loved it.
it was either that or the spanish station which looked really good too.
i like all they give you to accompany it too

We picked the:
Carving Station (sirloin with mashed potatoes, gravy, fried onions, creamed spinach)
Pasta (penne a la vodka and farfalle with grilled shrimp, broccoli)
Pacific Rim (asian dumplings and chicken with vegetables)
We felt like those three would appeal to the most people, including us
