DOG FOUND UPDATE

Her name is Chelsea and she went home today.
Her owner actually went to school with FH. Small world...

this is her right before the owner picked her up.

I'm gonna miss her... is that weird?

Call a few vets and shelters in your area and give them your # and let them know you found a dog. You don't have to give any other info, maybe just the breed. If someone comes in looking for a dog the vet will contact you and ask if its a match. We found 3 dogs and 2 of them went back to their owners and one we found a home for..so there's hope!!!!! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you and the puppy!!

The dog may have a microchip - some vets will scan for it for free. If not and there is no where for the dog - take her to North Shore - which is no kill and veryy picky about who the dogs go to. If you need any information - my aunt works there so FM me

The dog may have a microchip - if you bring it to a vet, they can scan it and get the phone number of the owners

oh no! I lost my dog in July and it was the most horrible experience!

I would take him to the nearest vet like everyone said to check for a microchip. Also you can go online to petfinder.com and other online lost dog sites. Put up flyers around where you found him and call all local animal shelters.

my dog ended up being at the animal shelter but it was a full 47 hours we did not have him and it was terrible.

i am glad that you and FH picked him up and are caring enough to try to find the owner!

We already tried the Vets. We tried calling all the emergency vets, we called the police precinct and added her to 'the book' we left messages with all the vets...
we're pet people, in case you haven't noticed lol, so we know all the things to do to try and find the owners.

None of the vets will scan the dog, we're not sure why.
We'll probably try to take her to OUR vet b/c they know us so well, but they aren't in until after 4 today.

Keep passing along the info for me okay ladies?
she's the sweetest thing... aside from her 'mounting' issue

theres signs in my neighborhood about a young german shepherd looking dog missing with $1000 reward, female i think.....
not that close to you where i am, but from experience we had a dog get out of yard and found him dead on side of road hit by car about 20 miles away.....

What is the purpose of the chip if they wont scan it?? My cats have chips and I sure would hope a vet would scan them God forbid they ever got lost.

As far as the trip may be-Hauppauge Animal Hospital will scan the chip, its a national registry so it will come up regardless of where the dog is from-if she has a chip

We have a vet that said they'd scan it if we get her over there.
I know all about the chips b/c one of my dogs is chipped.

I wish the chip worked both ways...like if we scan her that we could call her owners... but if we scan her and she's chipped the owners have to call the registry to see if she's been scanned. which means we might have her for a few days and get attached which upsets me...

i hope if she has owners who are looking for her, we find them SOON. i already named her and taught her a trick

Awww! I I hope she gets reunited with her owners! Did she look well taken care of? Try not to get too attached so it wont be painful if someone finally calls.

She seems well taken care of. She has a 'bark collar' which doesn't make me too happy, but she's a very happy dog.

i'm a schmuck b/c i'm already attached.
I just get like that with animals

OOh I dont like the bark collar idea either But what can you do.
And youre not a schmuck! Im the same way! There are like 5 cats in the area that I would have taken in already if FH was willing!

we stop whenever we see a dog on the streets. if it has tags, we bring it to it's home. this is the first time we've found one with out tags.

I would never be able to leave animals on the street, especially in the cold. and i would never bring it to a kill shelter. i just don't have that in me.

I know some place that lost a dog just thsi last friday. I know little about the dog expect it ran away from the groomers. It was supposed to be a 10 pound dog. I forget the type, is the dog you have small? I can call my friend & ask her about the dog lost it may be it!
