What style neckline/gown ended up looking best on you???
ETA: I'm 5'2, just under 110 (most of that in hips/butt), small chest.... I'm definately going to go for the slim-fitting. Guess I'm asking what type of neckline would make me look like I have a lil more up top
TIA!!!

Re: Calling All Petite Brides Past & Present!!!!!
i went with a-line. Didnt want too poofy and didnt go with too fitting. I think it also depends ALOT on body shape not just if you are short and petite in general. Depends also alot on whether short girls have a big chest, and their other curves or if they are more slender. Also whether they have a short or long torso. My neckline is scalloped a little bit and its strapless which surprised me that i would end up with that but surprisingly held me up well. I had to be very careful with the top bc anything low cut would be too much and id be popping out everywhere, had to be careful with the cleavage and had to wear something that will allow me to wear a full coverage very supporting bra.
PLUS its one of the few sort of traditional things i went with lol not that i went out looking to do that just what i ended up liking.

Re: Calling All Petite Brides Past & Present!!!!!
i guess being 5'0' is considered petite lol
i tried on strapless dresses and some were sweetheart while others weren't but i love sweetheart next lines best so that is what i ended up with
i say try on everything and go from there because oyu never know. thats what i did but narrowed it down to A-line dresses that are strapless!

very true denise lol see i have like NO chest so anything strapless was also a worry because i wouldnt have enough to hold it up but thankfully the bridal shop said they would add cups into the dress for me so i didnt even have to wear a bra since the back of my dress is very low

what about a halter top? depending on how the dress is that might work...or depending on the strapless dress you might be able to wear a padded bra with it, but thats if you even like strapless

so the cups helped a lot for you? because everywhere i read online they say small chested gurls shouldnt get strapless...

yeah i think most bridal shops offer that right? so that is a good option and its one less thing you have to worry about, you dont have to get a bra lol. Im jealous of girls who can wear dresses that are low cut in the back. SO many occasions i wanted to but couldnt

Re: Calling All Petite Brides Past & Present!!!!!
here is some info i found for you and says which neckline is good for small or big chests and which is bad
Bateau This wide neckline sweeps across collarbone to the edge of the shoulders.
Good: Small chest Bad: large chest
Jewel A high neckline that is rounded at the base of the throat. The jewel style de-emphasizes the chest area (bust and collar bone) and is usually reserved for the more conservative bride. Good for: Small-chested woman (it will make you look bustier) Bad for: Large-chested women (it will make you look bustier, too)
Off-the-Shoulder This neckline sweeps across the chest and rests below the shoulders. This style highlights your shoulders and collarbone.
Good for: Full-chested and pear-shaped women Bad for: Broad shoulders, fuller arms
Portrait Similar to an off-the-shoulder style but made with more fabric, the portrait neckline is characterized by a wide, soft scoop from the tip of one shoulder to the tip of the other.
Good for: Fuller arms and prominent collarbones Bad for: Undefined collarbones
Scoop (Round) This classic U-shaped neckline is usually cut low and continues its rounded feature at the back of the dress. A very popular style that is great on most figure types.
Sweetheart This low neckline resembles the top half of a heart and incorporates a high back. This style is ideal for large chest women. Good for: large chest Bad for: small chest
V-Neck This neckline features a V-shaped front that is ideal for brides who have a medium chest and want to accentuate cleavage. Good for: medium size chest Bad for: small or large chest
Strapless Very popular style that features a straight or shaped line that sweeps across the chest. As the name indicates, the neckline is strapless. The bodice is usually boned to provide support and help maintain the dress' shape.
Good for: Great shoulders and collarbones Bad for: The smaller-chested woman
Halter The halter features straps that wrap around the neck and generally features a low back. The design emphasizes the shoulders and is best worn with minimal or no bra.
Good for: Broad shoulders Bad for: Narrow shoulders

I ahven't picked the dress yet, but it seems that the sweetheart neckline wiht one of those boustier's looked the best. Tight up on top, then flared out, I guess that would be a-line? That was the one I liked the most!!

Re: Calling All Petite Brides Past & Present!!!!!
they say sweetheart dresses arent good for small chested brides but i ended up choosing a very deep plunging sweetheart neckline (pic in my album) and to be honest, the neckline plunges very low (its the lowest ive seen) and i think that the particular neckline i chose looks better on a small chested girl rather than a girl with a large chest - i feel like a girl with a larger chest than me would look a little slutty in the neckline (i am an a/b cup and i cant see a girl with a c or d cup in the same neckline because they would literally be spilling out) - sometimes when you have a large chest and you wear things that are low cut it looks more provactive than if someone with no chest is wearing the same thing....i did feel like th the neckline i choose somehow enhanced my chest size - i think maybe because of the roundess/shape of the pattern/cut....but anyway the rest of my dress is a-line....i am 5 feet tall and about 91-92 lbs...i think even though they say you should stick to certain styles for your shape its best to try on everything because you never know what might look good on you....

It is true, if its too low cut then yeah it would be TOO revealing on someone with a bigger chest. I tried on one dress that wasnt even low cut but bc of the neckline it made me look a bit yeah slutty with my chest hanging out. Just have to try on all types of dresses and figure what looks best on you, everyone has different opinions
