<< UPDATE >> Need some good vibes for tomorrow morning ... follow up doctors appointment

I cannot even believe I have been dealing with all of this since OCTOBER ... its been almost 5 months.

And to top it off, now the pain has moved from my left side to my right side (making it nearly impossible to do anything) ... today has been one of the worst days I have had in a long long time The pain has brought me to tears a few times today, the ant-inflammatories I'm on aren't doing anything to help.

Next steps will probably either be cortisone shots or surgery ... and I'm nervous about going either direction. I will find out more when I speak to the doctor.

I'm just so frustrated and want to go back to living a normal life, and be able to enjoy newlywed bliss.

My appointment is early tomorrow morning ... and it would help to know I'm in your thoughts

UPDATE #1:
My appointment was supposed to be at 8:50. I got a call at 7:15 this morning that my Doctor has the FLU and wouldn't be in today ... so we rescheduled for tomorrow afternoon.

A few hours later, I got a call from his office again ... saying that he got worse, and won't be in tomorrow. He's not in on Friday ... so now I have to wait until Monday afternoon to see him

And I was only able to get that appointment because they extended his Monday hours ... when I told them that I'm in a lot of pain & need to see him as soon as possible.

I have no clue how I'm gonna get through the rest of the week & the weekend

UPDATE #2:
They were able to call in a prescription to get me through the weekend. Definitely helped to take the edge off for now. I will update again after I see the doctor on Monday ...

Ill definitely keep you in my prayers! I dont know whats going on, but Im really sorry to hear that youre in any pain or discomfort. Keep us updated after the docs.

I know from personal experience that health conditions and whatnot can be very frustrating. You'll get through!!

It must be so extremely difficult to be dealing with all of this for so long and with things getting worse!!! You are definitely in my thoughts and prayers and I hope the docs are able make you feel better without having to have surgery!

Sorry, I wrote the post without posting all the past details .... I have a herniated disc and a bulging disc in my neck (cervical spine) ... it started about a month before the wedding.

I've been to many different doctors for acupressure, acupunture, chiropractor adjustments, orthopedists, and physical therapy.

I am now seeing a neuorologist who had put me on oral steroids which helped a bit ... but now that seems to have worn off or something.

I really feel for you! I just found out that the pain in my back and down my leg is due to a disc bulging out and to the left in my lower spine, pressing on a nerve. My neurologist has been great so far (well, minus all the EMG's! yikes ) and he put me on oral steroids too. I have a followup next week so we'll see if it works for me or not. I have other stuff too going on, so I really understand what it's like to go through what you're going through - just that you definitely are facing it worse than me. I pray you'll start to feel better soon!

Wasn't the EMG just the absolute worst form of torture ever? I actually CRIED in the doctors office during the last part! I felt like such a wimp, I kept apologizing to the doctor!

At the absolute worst part, the discs were causing numbness and tingling all the way from my neck down into my fingers. Fortunately I'm not feeling that right now.

You are in my thoughts and prayers too sweetie!!

i'm so sorry you are going through this.

I had spinal surgery 2 years ago and i know the pain you are going through so much.... I was given every inflamatory you can imagine, i was given epidurals, i was given KETAMINE for the pain.....

Is surgery an option??? I have a WONDERFUL spinal surgeon...you cannot even see my scar!!!

I've had the pain for a while, but have been living with it. But I have a really bad shoulder pain that's gotten worse and an MRI revealed I have a tear that requires surgery so I mentioned to the docs that I also have a pain that goes down my leg and lower back and it's been getting worse too, so they sent me for an MRI of my spine and then that showed the bulging disc and that it's pressing on the nerve. I literally just found out about all this in the last few weeks - I had no idea what was causing all the pain and I had been procrastinating on going to the docs. It's definitely not as bad as what you've been going through, I think, because I mostly take pain medicine and 'deal' with it - but now the pain meds are not working so I'm hoping the steroids work or something else. Its very frustrating and overwhelming to find out all these things - I'm only sharing now because I want you to know you're not alone.

And YES, that EMG was bad!!! The needles... OMG. I was crying too!!!! It kinda hit me by surprise and it hurt so bad that I couldn't speak! I was just gesturing, like waving my hands so he would stop. It was over pretty quick I guess, but dang that hurt! The last one even left a small bruise on my calf! BUT hopefully I won't have to have another one! I had one on each arm and each leg, so that's enough for me!

Oh and I get the numbness and tingling too! Only it's not very often. When it happens, I glance quickly at my leg/foot to see if there's something crawling on my foot, it feels so weird!

We're all jacked up, huh?

Jess.. im so sorry you are going through this.. i really hope that your appt goes well..
i used to work for a orthopedic surgeon and i felt so bad for his patients that were in so much pain.. most of them opted for the surgery and they recovered well! most of them say its worth it in the end... just keep that in mind..and hope it helps you a little.
