Just wondering how each special man in your life did it and how surprised were you? My fiancee was the last to know . Hehehehehehe

A very special day for me and now her.
4/10/03

April 10th is also the day I came to the US when I was adopted 28 years ago, so it had a very special iimportance to a sentimental sap like me. The show happened to be on the same day. What more could I ask for ?

We went to see Champions on Ice @ the Nassau Colisuem. Michelle Kwan was skating ( her fav ) . I got center ice 10th row seats on the ice level. You could hear everything. I let her sleep on the way home so I could run upstairs and put on Always by Atlantic Star.

I took the day off and prepped the house with one rose petal on each of the 12 steps leading up to our living room ( we live on the upper level ). The petals formed a line and an arrow in front of her mothers urn. I put scented candles on every 4th step and next to her mother and placed the ring in front of it. It was the longest moment of my life. She just kept saying yes over and over. I took her hand and asked her with my proposal. On a funny note. She was so tired after work and then the Ice show that when I put on the ring, it was on the wrong hand. We both didn't notice until the very next day at work her co-worker was looking at the ring and asked her if it was a chinese tradition to wear it on the other hand. Hehehehehee

I took 2 of my sisters to pick out the ring but I knew right away that was the ring. I had never been so sure of anything in my life before. She kept saying I could get a simulated diamond and no-one would know . But I would and after a while she gave in to me doing it the way it should be.

Feel free to email or FM me about your plans for your wedding or what you had. Any ideas , likes or dislikes would be much appreciated. We are probably going to book Flowerfield on Monday. I love that place. ( Another sure thing that i want to get married there )

We were out to dinner and a restaurant right on the water. It was the middle of winter and it was freezing but we decided to go out by the water. The NYC skyline was in the background. He started talking about our relationship and then he got down on one knee and proposed. It was so wonderful!

Jeannie and Chris took a much-needed eight day vacation to Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic. On the thrid night they were there, Chris suggested a walk on the beach before dinner. They walked and talked enjoying the scenery, they stopped for a few minutes and sat on a chais lounge and continued to walk. They turned back to head in for dinner when Chris pointed out something in the sand. The couple walked over the the object and Chris pulled a bottle from the sand and handed it to Jeannie. There appeared to be something inside the bottle, so Jeannie pulled out the cork and cautiously pulled a piece of paper out of the bottle. With the paper out of the bottle, Jeannie unfolded it to reveal a real message in a bottle which read 'Will You Marry Me?' Jeannie turned to Chris and he pulled a ring box from his pocket and verbally asked 'Will You Marry Me?' Half crying and half laughing Jeannie threw her arms around him without answering until Chris asked again, 'Well??' Without hesitation, Jeannie yelled 'YES!' And Chris placed the beautiful engagement ring onto Jeannie's trembling hand.

We were going out for dinner to Tavern on the Green for my 23rd birthday. Brad told me to meet him at Central Park. We had some time to kill, so he suggested that we walk into the park. He had some red roses for me, supposedly for my birtday. We were walking through the Sheep's Meadow when he stopped, unzipped his portfolio, and unfolded a beach towel for us to sit on. He then started making a circle of roses around me. The whole time, I was like 'what are you doing?!' Then he began singing 'Bed of Roses' (he had wanted to make a whole bed of roses for me, but they had thorns!). I was getting a little nervous at this point, but still was telling myself that he was just being romantic (which is what he had told me when I was questioning him). After he finished singing, we were sitting quietly, and I thought nothing was going to happen, when he said 'there's just one more thing I want to do.' He reached into his inside jacket pocket, pulled out a ring box and got down on one knee. I barely remember what he said, but I still didn't believe he was proposing until he opened the box and I saw the ring! After I stopped hyperventilating, I was so excited that I wanted to get home and tell everyone...so we skipped dinner and I grabbed KFC in Penn Station!

My Gosh the way FH proposed was like a dream come true!!! He was soooo romantic!

It was a perfect night, clear, the stars and the moon were out, just right.
We were at this beautiful intimate resort in the Dominican Republic. The first night there, the hotel was having a bon(sp) fire on the beach scheduled for 9:00pm. As we walked down the stairs going towards the beach, I see a man video taping and a guitar trio. (I, like a dummy, thought this was part of the resort welcoming their guest.) Well, as soon as we get to the sand, the trio starts singing and playing their guitars and FH get's on one knee.....and from there I don't remember his whole speech, I just lost it. After, I got myself together, FH and I danced several songs, while the guys continued singing and playing their guitars.

FH and I were on our annual spring ski trip in Colorado with a bunch of friends. We were out skiing on day 7 of a 11 day trip. FH had brought along his video camera under the guise of 'shooting a video for his parents'. Our group got together for some pictures/video shots at the top of the chairlift and while the camera was running FH got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. After much shrieking and a few profanities I said YES and tackled him with a huge hug!

And we have it all on video!!

FH wanted to go for a walk on the beach one day (very unlike him) so I said ok. He brought a towel for us to sit on and we were just talking about nothing and laughing. Then a plane flew by with a banner attached and I thought nothing of it. FH was like 'wow look at that plane!' So I look up and the banner says 'Gianna will you marry me?' I nearly DIED! (his friend is a pilot and arranged it with him)
The worst part is of course I didnt have my camera with me, so I wasnt even able to get a picture of it!!!

Here is mine ( long):
Three months before Michael popped the question I was in a car acciden t on my way home from work. Because I was in this car accident i was sent for a MRI. After having this MRI doctors discovered that I had a brain tumor the size of my eye ball located on the right side of my brain.
For the next three months Michael supported me with the hardest decision to date in my life. To go ahead and have the tumor removed via surgery. My surgery date was all set for July.
With all the stress of what was upcoming I never saw that the proposal was on its way. When Michael called me at work and asked if I would join him on the beach after work I had no clue that it would lead to the greatest moment in my life.
As we strolled down the beach hand in hand, Michael stopped and asked me to sit beside him.
As I did he began to tell me how much he loved me. How he thought that I was the strongest person he would ever know. How no matter what happened in the next couple of weeks he would ALWAYS be there for me. He told me that the beach and us had something in common. Puzzled I asked “what?” He then bent down on one knee and said “ the beach is long and beautiful just like our lives will be together” He reached in his pocket and then asked me to be his wife.
Stunned , All I could do is cry. This very special man just erased all the fears in my mind of what was going to happen to me in the next couple of weeks and filled my heart with joy, love, happiness and above all faith.
With out him I would have never made it through that very difficult time and I owe him a thousand, no a million thank you’s on helping me to recover and be the healthy woman I am today!

Everyone's stories are so beautiful.

My FI and I had been dating for 10 years and I knew it was coming. When he told me that he made reservations for a romantic get away for two I thought to myself this is it!!!!!!!

Well one day spur of the moment he calls me up and asks if I can take a personal day from work becuase his Mom has a free room in Atlantic City that she said we could use. So we go up there and the whole time he is acting all strange and the 1st thing he wants to do is take a nap. So I am yelling at him that we are in Atlantic City and I cannot believe he wants to sleep, I want to go gamble! I storm into the bathroom of our luxury suite ( complete with jacuzzzi tub and balcony overlooking the beach! ) and walk out onto the balcony to see the view. He follows me onto the suite turns me around to face him and says ' I don't need to gamble you are my jackpot' ( I know cheesey right?) he then proceeds to take out the ring and I am absoluty shocked!!!!! I am just crying and crying ..it was truly the best day!!

PS. The get away was just a fake to throw me off. It worked like a charm.

FH and I had been together for like 6 1/2 years. It was my 21st Birthday. When Fh and I had met in 1995 when I was 14 and he was 15 we had to walk everywhere. We walked up the block to the park and FH and I were sitting on the park bech and he asked me out. It was so corny but hey we were 14 and 15. Years later on my 21st b-day in 2001 FH put me in the car and said we have to drive to ure present. I was like UM OK?????? He told me to cover my eyes and no Peeking. I did. The car come to a stop and he got out of the car he opened the door and took my hand and walked me to the same park bench and sat me down and said ok look. He handed me a dozen long stemed roses. I looked and was like they are pretty thanks and went to close the box. Hes like NO LOOK took the box and moved it There attached to one of the stems was my ring. so it was sparkling in the street light. I started balling. I couldnt believe it. He took it out got down on his knees said something about for the last 6 years I made him so happy would I marry him and make him the happiest man for the rest of his life. I only remember that cause I was a mess. He put the ring on and through my tears I say Did I even say yes? He said yes u said yes! It migh seem Corney but It was the best I love him and hes So cute and just remembering that night is getting me all teary! We all have such great guys Ladies!!!

We were in the car, and I asked him where we were going. He responded, 'What are you writing a book?' A few minutes later he said, 'I think this place is on the left.' He pointed to a page of the newspaper he had torn out and put in the sun visor. When I looked it was an ad for a jewelry store he had secretly torn out that afternoon. We picked out our ring and decided to make the engagement official the following week when we picked it up and he placed it on my finger. I was supposed to keep it a secrete till then but, I couldn't help myself! The day we were supposed to pick up the ring He was so sick. I was ready to burst though, and just couldn't wait another minute to pick up the ring. We went and got the ring and poor Dennis proposed right there in the car through sniffles and coughs. I felt so bad for him, but I was so happy that we picked up the ring I couldn't stop looking at it. He still teases me how I made him go out when he was so sick.

My FH asked if I wanted to take a trip to Las Vegas. I was a little suspicious because he hates to travel and he'd been telling me for months that he didn't want to go anywhere. So, we went and as soon as we checked into the Flamingo hotel he says, 'Let's go to the Venetian. I really want to go the Venetian. Let's do the gondola ride.' Again I was really suspicious. My macho man wants to ride the gondola? Then we get there (and the hotel is gorgeous) and we're standing watching the boats go by and he says, 'I don't wanna do this thing. Let's go eat.' I thought, OK, I was wrong. He's not gonna do it. So we go eat at this restaurant Zefferino's (owned by the Scotto bros too) where we're just about the only people on the second floor, eating on this little balcony that's on top of the end of the gondola ride where the gondoliers stop and sing to seranade their passengers. As we're watching this whole thing, I turn to him to say what a beautiful voice one of the guys has, and he's pulling out the box. 'Are you ready for this? Would you make the the happiest man in Vegas?' Although now everytime I say we have an appointment with a vendor he says, 'We shoulda been married by Elvis in Vegas!'

Since I've been on this site, I haven't seen a message from anyone who's getting married at the Swan Club...I was beginning to wonder!

I'm having my wedding ceremony in the Pavillion and my reception in the Contessa room (the warm 'oaky' room).

HOW IT HAPPENED
Nick proposed at one of our most memorable places, Captree State Park on West Islip, Long Island, New York. We left work promptly at 5:30 p.m. heading east bound on the LIRR at Hicksville where Nick parked the car. We drove nearly 30 miles which Tina had no clue as to where we were going. We vaguely remember how far Captree State Park was, but remember that night where we sat in the car to talk back in January 1997. We got out of the car into the darkness and started to walk on the boardwalk. He told Tina that he got a surprise for her and have her turn around where the view of Fire Island was calm and a clear night. She then was allowed to turn around to see a little box wrapped up perfectly for Valentine’s Day. Nervously, she opened the box shaking from the cold and saw a ring sparkling in the darkness. Nick then got down on his hands and knees taking Tina’s hand to pop the question. Overwhelm with joy, she said yes throwing herself at Nick with a bear hug. We then went to the nearest place to eat since we were far from home at Seaford Palace Diner for a late dinner.

I have to start by saying that originally it was all supposed to be a surprise, but I had told him once that I didnt want a diamond I wanted a sapphire so when he went to look for my setting and before he picked a diamond he wanted to make sure that's what I really wanted so the poor guy had to ask if thats what I really wanted so I kinda found out when he put a deposit on the ring and ordered it. I have to admit though, I had no idea when I was getting it or what it looked like. Last summer was hectic and every time he got paid I would ask if he picked it up (annoying I admit) and he would say no. Finally one Thurs night we were out at Applebee's and when we got there I had to go to the ladies room, he asked what I wanted to drink (I have to mention that we were having a disagreement in the car, so I wasnt very pleasant) I told him that I would decide when I got back to the table, he insisted he wanted to know so he could order I was like 'Fine, order me a glass a Zin with ice', When I got back to the table I took a drink and he had this look like he did something wrong. I asked him if he did something to my drink (ie, pour sugar in it, beer in it, something like that, I did that once to him as a joke and I was waiting for payback) Anyway I was threatening to pour the drink on the floor when he asked me to look in the glass and there it was my Sapphire ring, the most beautiful sapphire I have ever seen. He had done a lot of research and found out that the Ceylon was actually a lot prettier than the rest and thats what he got me. I asked him what made him do it there and he told me that had we gone anywhere else I would have guessed since that place is usually where we go on Thurs, and he had just picked it up and didn't want to wait a minute longer than necessary to ask me to marry him.

Mine's kinda long but FI put if anyone wants to read it it's on the Jack and rose website. FI put it on there...it's the 4th one down Rob and Dawn. He was really creative...at least I think so.
