Laura Jean Kaucher & Matt Connell
Friday, August 4, 2006
We are happy to announe the engagement of Laura Jean Kaucher to Matt Connell and to extend our congratulations to their families: Glenn E. and Martha M. Kaucher; and Thomas and Mary Freances Truscello.
The two, a Personal Assistant and an A & R for Fat Beats, Inc., both from Brooklyn were engaged on August 4, 2006 at home.
'Matt had been looking at engagement rings for some time and was having the toughest time finding what he was looking for. While Laura Jean was on vacation Italy, Matt had been planning to go home to visit his family in Ebensburg, PA. Matt decided to call ahead to a jeweler in the area to see if maybe he could get an idea of what was available back home. He placed his first call and described to the jeweler what he was looking for. In return, he received a plethora of choices via email. After a lengthy search, Matt found a setting that he was definitely interested in via e-mail but was wary of choosing simply by a photograph. So with customer service not yet dead in Western Pennsylvania, the e-mailing jeweler snail-mailed the ring to a friend in NYC who met Matt on a lunch break in the city to appraise. He had the young lady put the ring on and as soon as she did, he called the jeweler to place the order. When he went home, he had the ring set. Matt and Laura Jean had recently been talking about getting married, having been together 3.5 years as of June of 2006, so Laura Jean did not find it out of the ordinary for Matt to ask, while casually hanging out one evening in their Brooklyn apartment, “Will you marry me?”. Thinking nothing of it, Laura Jean replied, “Of course I’m going to marry you – we talk about it all the time.” Not getting the message across, Matt repeated her response, “You will? You’ll marry me?” to which Laura Jean stared blankly and reiterated, “Yes of course,” still not realizing the proposal. Sneaking a box out of his pocket, Matt then followed up with, “Well then I have something for you...” She caught on then.'
They look forward to a June 2008 celebration at the Metropolitan Building.
We wish them all the best.
