Jessica Zenone & Dean Schuler

Friday, April 24, 2009

Welcome and congratulations to Jessica Zenone and Dean Schuler and their families: Ann and Lenny Zonone; and Linda and Dean Schuler. The happy couple: an English Teacher and a Social Studies Teacher from Hauppauge and St. James respectively were engaged on April 24, 2009 at Niagara Falls, Ontario. 'Dean and I went to Niagara Falls to celebrate our 10-year anniversary, as we are high school sweethearts. Our room was absolutely beautiful, on the 20th floor with celing to floor windows. Also, we had a jacuzzi and fireplace. After a day spent walking all over Niagara Falls and the Maid of the Mist ride, we went out for our anniversary dinner. After dinner we went back to the room and sat in front of the window looking at the gorgeous falls, which are illuminated at night. We gave each other cards and then Dean pulled out a big blue box. I was originally upset because we said no gifts, that the trip was our gift to each other. He opens up the box for me (while kneeling in front of me), and it was all the supplies for a scrapbook. He said that after all these years, we should start scrapbooking our memories. He took out a scrapbook and said he had started a page or two. The first page was pictures of us with our 'kids' (our stuff animals) and he labeled it 'Our family.' At this point I was already crying because it was so sweet that he did all of this. THEN he turned the page and it said 'Jessica' at the top and had 'my best friend,' 'my true love,' 'my soulmate' stickers next to a picture of us. At the bottom it said, 'Jessica, will you marry me?' and I couldn't believe it. He pulled out a ring from the most beautiful wooden ring box that he had made and said he loves me, that he wants to spend the rest of his life with me, and would I marry him. Of course I said yes! We hugged and kissed and were both in a state of shock that after all these years, we were now engaged' They look forward to a July 30, 2010 celebration at The Old Field Club. We wish them all the very best.
