First of all, thank you Becki for picking me! I really appreciate it, and I'm glad to be NWOTW during the week of my favorite holiday!!!

Is there a NWOTW avatar floating around somewhere?

Here's the question of the day:

Do you ever look back and say 'if I hadn't done this/if this hadn't happened, I wouldn't be here?' What are some of those things for you? Do you think it's fate, or do you think if you hadn't made those choices, you would have been just as happy with whatever else occurred?

I look back and say that a decent amount of times. For example: if my Mom hadn't divorced her first husband, I wouldn't exist. If I didn't leave my first college, I wouldn't have met DH. If I was permitted to work at my school while I was taking a leave of absence, I wouldn't have had the job I have now, and subsequently, I would not have been able to make enough money to pay for aspects of the wedding. Therefore, no, I do not think I would have been as happy if I were on some other path.

I do think that there is a 'fate' element to it, because I often notice that good comes from bad or from difficult decisions or times. I don't think that we are forced though. I don't think that we are pulled along by a string, but I do think we are gently nudged by guides.

if i hadn't taken a random job as a paralegal, and if DH didn't drop out of law school and take a random job as a paralegal, we never would have met.

I think this all the time. There are too many for me to list.
But if I had not quit a cr@ppy job, I would not have the job I have now and I would not have met DH. And if I had not moved to Ronkonkoma for XBF, I would not be married to DH.
I believe in fate, but I also believe that we are presented choices. And that those choices are part of fate. Like if we make one choice over the other, there is a different destiny.

I was majorly in love with another guy...for many many years. We were friends with benefits and he knew how i felt but it didnt seem to matter. If I didnt take a chance with meeting DH while the friends with benefits was away...I wouldnt be where I am now. I'd probably still be deeply in love with the other guy.

i wouldnt call it fate per se- i kind of think of it like the butterfly effect movie- the way events happen flow together and 1 change in event can change the future. if i didnt get my crappy exbf a job with this certain company, he would've never met slutty mcslutterson. then if my crappy exbf didnt dump me, i wouldnt've met DH and known what its like to have a whole, loving relationship.

If I never met,married and divorced my ex- I would have never met DH. Also if I had never gotten laid off from a job that I worked at for 17 years in 1998 I would have been at the World Trade Center in 2001 and who knows.
