*** 11/2 NWQOTD!!!!***

So for my first NWQOTD I would like to talk about holidays! Since I heard Jingle Bell Rock on the way to work this morning! (wayyyyy to early for that!) but it got me thinking....

Since your a NW what are the traditions that you have started or will start with your DH around the holidays?


For us... Every year we watch the Emmet Otter's Jug Band Christmas movie.
Its such a cute movie... I cry every time lol! It reminds us that Christmas is not about the gifts but about the love for others.

We take a picture w/ Santa. We have been doing it since the year we met so this is going to be year 5!!!

Year 1 - red shirts
Year 2 - white shirts
Year 3 - black shirts
Year 4 - Sesame street shirts (I was Ernie and DH was Cookie Monster)
Year 5 - ??????


Here are some of them that I have on this computer.

a tradition that we are starting is actually one my family use to do...

every year since my parents were married (and until they got a fake tree) they use to get a piece of the tree stump and save it, every year they would carve out the year, and carve out the members of the family...first it was just my parents, then my parents and the dog, then my bother, then me and whatever family pet we had at the time! I got soo mad at my parents when they got a fake tree and ruined that tradition!!!

I soo wanna start that tradition with me and DH! i think it will be nice too look back and watch the family grow! and have a piece of each christmas together always!

yup!! always had them on display! i tell my mom all the time getting a fake tree was such a bad idea!

Well I bought a tree last year but we werent here in the country to display it but I would like to have a tradition where we buy a gift for one another but it cannot be more than $20-25 and we give to one another on xmas. I would also like to cook breakfast on xmas like my mom did. A nice big ol breakfast with lots of food and just relaxing with the hubs. And for thanksgiving since we started dating I would go to his house and we would cook dinner so I would like to continue that tradition

Well for Thanksgiving it has become a tradition for us to host Thanksgiving dinner since we've had our home now for the past 5 years - this will be our 5th Thanksgiving - but 1st married one.

Christmas is always spent getting a real tree - putting it up & decorating it while watching some of the classics...

We tend to go a little overboard w/decorating while listening to Christmas music but we both LOVE IT!

One other tradition is making Christmas cookies & having hot cocoa & watching Its A Wonderful Life...for whatever reason that's the movie that when I watch it makes it really feel like Christmas

We always go to the same Christmas tree lot where DH used to work in HS and walk around foreverrrrr trying to find the perfect tree!

Also, every Christmas Eve since I was little me, my cousins and two of my uncles would pile into their minivan and drive around looking at all the lights and being forced to sing Christmas carols before we were allowed to open presents... I am SO dragging DH in the van this year!

Also, completely unrelated... but all day today I was like why is this 1 and 1/2 questions in the subject line? Took me WAAAAAAY too long to realize it was the date.

I have it on DVD......LOVE IT!!!! My sister bought it for me last year.

Growing up we bought a new ornament every year. So DH and I will buy a new one every year for us and then once we have kids they will get a new one.

the day after thanksgiving, we decorate!!! DH starts to bring in some bins a few days b4. I put on the christmas music and put on CELEBRATING CHRISTMAS IN DISNEY..it was a show on the travel channel.. i taped it and put it on every year!!!

So while I am inside decorating dh is outside decorating!!!

The first year we were in the house, I was so excited, I couldn't sleep a few days b4!!!


I LOVE CHRISTMAS!!!

we always have a nice get together without friends... for the past few years we had 'ghetto christmas' we ordered pizza and hung out!!

This year we are going to skip the pizza and just eat dessert!!!! I make struffles and mom makes rainbow cookies.. yum...love it!!!

we usually go to fortunoff'd to look around but ...now what??

that is one tradition we won't get to share....

also what is going on with jones beach??? they haven't done the lights in a few years???

luckily we have lots of houses nearby, that go crazy with their displays!!!

whhhhattt? xmas music already? thats scary every store i've been into the last 2 days , is COVERED in xmas already...blah!

as for the holidays we are going to keep pretty much everything the same as it was before, this xmas we aren't exchanging gifts, we are doing one major gift, and we are going on vacation to California in January! woo hoo

Since we've been together, DH and I started hosting a Christmas morning breakfast.....we go all out and make this amazing breakfast, and the only rule is that everyone needs to come over in their jammies.

When we get a house we'll end up hosting something bigger, in the mean time we like our little morning party.
