15 months later and the cake was still pretty good
we were going to have our cake our cake in December...but forgot and then we moved to CA and left our cake in my moms freezer...so we took it out right before the plane yesterday and let is defrost that way...it wasn't bad...but neither of us finished out slice...but the white chocolate rolls that we had on the outside are still delish...so I am going to take all of them off and use them for something else...or just to snack on them....

Wow, thats great. I finally threw out our cake. Our anniversary is next month but our cake was so freezer-burned, there is no way we would have been able to eat it.

Re: 15 months later and the cake was still pretty good
My cake was great too (see anniversary thread) and it was from Lovin' Oven. I couldn't believe it since my mom only double wrapped it in saran wrap and tin foil. I thought the same as you Erica, what should I do with this? Gary doesn't eat cake and I would snack on it every night (not good on WW!), so I gave it to my parents!

yay! at least it was still decent. The roses were good on my cake, probably because it was mostly sugar. But the buttercream icing was nasty!

Erica - that's great! It's so funny you posted this b/c I just saw a cake the other day (I think on Martha's site) that looked alot like your cake (had the white chocolate curls on the outside of each layer) - so beautiful! And, not for anything...but at least the chocolate was still yummy!

Mine didn't survive the blackout too well...when we took it out on Sunday, it had a little dot of mould on it. But, we ate a small bite and then ate our backup cake!
Enjoy yours!!

Re: 15 months later and the cake was still pretty good
Ours didn't make it too well. We tasted it, but it tasted pretty yucky so in the garbage it went! Glad that you were able to eat something from it!

Re: 15 months later and the cake was still pretty good
We just tried ours on Monday- it tasted fine, the flowers (real, not sugar) preserved their original colors surprisingly, but we ended up both spitting it out..... something about year old food going through my system just freaked me out! At least we tried!

Re: 15 months later and the cake was still pretty good
Mine survived the drive from Long Island to over here (upstate) on a hot day. We put it in the freezer when we got here. On our Anniversary me and my husband said no matter how bad we were going to take at least one bite for good luck. Well opened it up it looked great but
it was so freezer burnt!! We took one bite each and to the trash compactor it went.........
