16 Days to Go: Newlywed GTG

Original post by Sonicstef

Im not able to make it to the LIW sponsored GTG...but remembering our last one, I didnt get to talk to too many of the newlyweds.

Would anyone be interested in doing our own Newlywed GTG?

I dont live on LI and I dont drive ... but I think many of us work in NYC right? So maybe we could all meet for dinner one night.

What do you think?

I am in too (assuming I am not on call that night.) I have never been to a LIW get together, this should be fun! Maybe I will finally have some pictures by then. It's only been 61/2 weeks....

Paiz: Any ideas of where we can go?

Re: Newlywed GTG?

What kind of place would you be interested in? Restaurant? Lounge? How far away from Penn would we be willing to venture?

Mercury Bar- 9th Ave and 45th Street

Zanzibar- 9th Ave @ 45th Street

Dewey's Flatiron- Fifth Ave @ 25th

Heartland Brewery in Midtown

I don't really know good places by Penn- I know there is tons of great places on 9th Ave.

We could try to do it at Hard Rock Cafe...My job had a Happy hour 'event' and they have an entire upstairs we might be able to get...If I recall, it wasn't that expensive...

I'm in. I work in Long Island City but would happy to take the hop, skip and jump into NYC for a Newlywed GTG. I haven't been to any either - and I've been on this board for over 3 years!!! I'd love to meet all of you.

I 2nd Hard Rock Cafe. I've been there a couple of times, the food is pretty good and its not that far from my job.

Re: Newlywed GTG?

Heartland Brewary is nice but its a little farther uptown. Is 43rd Street okay for everyone?

Hard Rock is really crowded with tourist and close to 60th Street so I think that might be a little inconvienent for most of the LIRR. Im not one of you so if Im wrong, let me know. I dont think we could get the entire upstairs unless we all paid in advance, right?

Sorry city to far for me too..

any LI brides want to do one on the island let me know!

Re: Newlywed GTG?

Hard Rock is a bit from Penn - 57th Street. But the upstairs would be all ours so we wouldn't necessarily see all the tourists.

But if you let me know what kind of place you have in mind I could prob find something more appropriate. Am I right in thinking a place offering appetizers/light meals and a few drinks?

Re: Newlywed GTG?

I was thinking dinner - more because we could all sit around and chat without having to be rushed. But Im open for whatever everyone else is okay with.

When do most people get out of work?

Re: Newlywed GTG?

Suzanne, we make the trek out to LI, you should trek to the city to come and hang with us, you all make it seem like the city is a whole nother world or something. You ladies have LI Brains

Stef I get out of work at 5pm I am game for anywhere in the city, so it does not have to be close to Penn, I work on Wall street.

Re: Newlywed GTG?

can I join in then, if I am 'almost' married? I am not sure if I'll come yet, is it definitely the 12th?

There is also a heartland on 43rd st, I think, close to broadway. Heartland requires a deposit if its more than 20 people reserving (we tried the midtown gtg there last time)
