2011er crashing--- nervous breakdown

so FH and I guarenteed 175 at our reception hall, this morning i sent out invites for 276
im flipping outtt

please tell me some ppl said no

i know theres out of towners that arent coming that i just had to respond, so thats about 30 ppl, but even so thats still 70 ppl over what i guarenteed

You will get more nos at the end...trust me.

Also, you will get cancelations and no shows. I didnt think we would, but we got a lot of last minute cancellations (mostly the 'and guest' not coming), and 2 couples didn't show without telling us why. So when you give in your final count, leave some out. You can always add on, but you cant take off!

If you sent out Save The Dates, than you will get less no's than usual... But you get the no's you need. Don't stress too much. The invites are sent out and there isn't much you can do now. I went through the same exact thing and we ended up having about 40 over what we expected and had to come up with the money, but in the end, it all works out.

iv eheard of that but then what do i do about their seats? lets say i have 210 ppl coming
if i tell the hall 200 but then all 210 show up then what? do they put out a table last minute? how does that work?

We invited about 240 in the end and wound up with 186 as our final number. Did you invite a lot of people with guests? That's where many of our no's came from. What's the max number there?

A week before I gave them the floor plan with all people and then said this person or that person was a 'maybe' and then the day before I gave final number and paid balance day of.

Are you concerned with fitting people in the ballroom or about paying for more people than you guarenteed?

ETA: We invited 269 and ended up with 220, which is slightly under 20%. My dad's entire family is OOT.

most ppl i gave guests, im just hoping for 75 no's haha is that me daydreaming?

I put in 5 people less than I had. We had 4 no-shows the day of and they just added 1 chair for the extra person. We weren't charged for the extra 1 plate and all was fine.

I don't think it's so crazy. We had 55 no's and you invited more people. I totally get you though with the extra favors and linens and all that jazz. It's... scary how fast it all adds up. But somehow, some way everything always comes together. Just try and relax, there's nothing you can do now but wait and try to save as much money as you can! Good luck!

My floral contract actually had 20 tables as its base, and then when we only needed 19 it was reduced. Also, do not forget, tables holding 10 ppl or 12 ppl are the same size table (usually) so you may not need more centerpieces if you fit more people at each table.


Do not freak out, it will all work out in the end.

do you have a lot of OOTers? We guaranteed 175 and invited about 225 thinking we would be tooootally fine. Our final number was like 158!!! When the RSVPs started I was freaking out at all the yes's but the no's came!

We guarenteed 225, invited 300, and WITH vendors got 220. We didn't have any 'no-shows' but we did have last minutes cancellations and then they were coming and then they weren't coming and then they were and then not, that's the most annoying part. You'll totally be fine with your amount though...

I would tell the hall the exact amount. I thought about telling them a few less but realized that they are the professionals and I doubt I'd be the first to have last minute cancellations. We had 1 last min. cancellation and I just called them up to tell them.
I was also fearful about telling them less b/c it's not as easy as setting up a table last minute. Think about it, you won't know that everyone is def. coming until a good hour into your party. Do you really want to see your hall setting up in the middle of the party? Also realize that may screw up your seating charts too.

I had the same worry. Guaranteed 175 and invited 270. I even cut people off the list. Well we ended up under. People who I thought for sure were coming said no.
