Thank you ladies so much..... I ended up ordering a few dresses online. I will just try them when they get here. hopefully they make it in time. I will post pics when they get here.

Ok my dilema is I am fat and nothing looks good on me. I will not were anything dress wise unless it is ankle length. As horrible as it is my family is expecting my great-grandmother to pass in the next few days. I know this sounds horrible but i am having to shop for a dress for the funeral that will be.

I found the dress below. I know it is not appropriate as is but i am going to were a black cardigan with it. Will that look horrible? Also could you please post some pics of a shoe that will look good with it?

I am sorry to hear about your g grandma... I am happy to hear how old she is and hope she lived a wonderful life.
As for the dress I think it is totally acceptable and if you are self conscious about your legs it's perfect. A black or charcoal grey cardigan would be my recommendation. And I would wear kitten heel, flats or a black heel since it's a funeral. HTH

I'm very sorry about your great-grandmother, bless her that she lived such a long life. It's not easy watching someone decline in health.

Honestly I don't like any of the first few dresses posted. First off they are not appropriate for a funeral, and second they do not flatter a larger figure.
You by all means do not have a large figure.

The Lane Bryant dress and the Nordstrom dress are more appropriate. Lane Bryant dresses have to be ordered, it is very difficult to find them in the stores.
There is nothing wrong with wearing a pair of black trousers with a nice top or a cardigan, a nice pair of shoes.
Unfortunately it will be a long day or two and you do want to be comfortable, not self conscious about what you are wearing.
For my mom's wake, I wore a black skirt with a black collared sweater and heels. For the funeral service I wore the skirt with a black and grey printed blouse, and heels.
These were some of my work outfits, but I was comfortable in them.

im not a huge fan of the original dress to be honest and im horrible with fashion, lol but the others all look too flashy to me.

35 bucks, i like this lane bryant dress. it shows a little leg tho.

I also like this dress better. But the one you postd the link too will be fine with a black cardigan.

There is NO real rule anymore about appropriate and inappropriate to funeral, infact that is dated. Suits and the color black used to be the traditions as well as ideal to show respect. Things have come a long way since.

I am not proud of saying I have been to so many funerals in the recent past but I have seen more darker colors worn like brown and gray over black, and yes even jeans.

At all of my grandmothers funerals I was just happy my friends just showed up. I didn't care about the attire, although I am not sure if a tropical shirt would be the best idea

Christy, I am so sorry to hear about your great grandmother. I will keep your family in my prayers.

To be honest I would go with the second dress that you posted with a cardigan. Here is a link for the Lane Bryant Catalog: http://www.lanebryantcatalog.com, they have some really nice things and they aren't very expensive. Have you thought of a nice flowy skirt with a nice top instead of a dress.
