4/29/04 Situational Opinions

Your husband goes out with some friends for the first time in months. He tells you he will be home at midnight. Midnight passes and he is still not home...

how long do you give him before you start getting mad?

how long do you give him before you start getting worried?

At what time do you pick up the phone to make your first phone call to his cell?

What do you do as a 'punishment' (for lack of a better word) to him? Maybe are there any reprucussions (ie withholding sex or something like that) is a better way to phrase it.

I'd be worried after 1am, probably call after 2am....punishment: eh...I know we'd have words the next day, depends...

is he drunk?
was it a bachelor party?
did he call to say he was going to be late?

my DH is ALWAYS late...so it'd be more of an issue after him being an hr late or so. But I ALWAYS worry about him when he's out on his own...

Oh, he's pulled this one before. Ya know, it doesn't bother me that he stays out later than he says, I don't own him, but I am a big worry wart and If he tells me he is going to be home by a certain time and then he isn't I immediateley start thinking the worst. A phone call isn't hard to make. So usually when this happens, I ignore him, for as long as I can ( I cave easily). Then we discuss it, he apologizes and thats it. It doesn't happen often but when it does thats what happens. I have done it to him a few times, purposeley, just for him to see how it feels and he doesn't like it!!

how long do you give him before you start getting mad? About 1

how long do you give him before you start getting worried? About 1

At what time do you pick up the phone to make your first phone call to his cell? 1/1:30

I'll usually ignore him.

I don't so much mind him being late, but I hate when he doesn't call!

I would probably get more worried than mad. I think I would call after 1am.

I'd probably start to wonder and worry at 1.

I'd start to get mad and call at 2.

I wouldn't get into it that night with him, I'd wait until the next day and then we'd talk or argue depending on his reaction.

He gets really worried about me and I know he'd be mad earlier than I would, so usually he is good about calling me and saying he is staying out later than planned.

My DH actually did this last year. Now I look back and can laugh but when it happened I was mad. He had gone out with his best friend and said he would be back by 10 the latest. So, 10:00 comes and goes so does 11. I call the cell phone and get no answer.

When he did finally get home around 12:30 I was sitting in bed watching tv. He was so drunk it was obvious. I start yelling at him b/c he drove home like that. I'm also yelling at him for not calling and for being late. Within a 1/2 hour he begins to get sick all over the entire bathroom and is yelling cause he doens't feel good. He ended up sleeping on the couch that night, which was the only time that has ever happened.

The next day he woke up early feeling very sick. He cleaned the entire bathroom and then went to the store to buy new toothbrushes and also came home with flowers for me.

He has since learned his lesson and has never done anything like that again. He said he realized the next day what a mistake he had made and how angry I was. He said he never wants to make me angry like that again.

Me three!

I'm so used to him being out until 3am-5am every weekend when he's got a gig that I hardly notice when he's later than normal.

I must say though, when he's going to be more than 30 minutes late when he's out during the week, he'll call me and let me know.

I wouldnt care if he wanted to stay out all night but if he said hed by home at midnight..and didnt call..Id be pissed about 1-1:30..Id call him just so i could have peace of mind and go back to sleep knowing he wasnt hurt. Hes gotten pretty good thank god with calling only because weve had these arguments already. In my opinion..do what ya want..but let me know if plans change because Ima worrier.

I agree with Boop. but, funnily enough, I went out with 'the girls' on Wednesday night for the first time in months and came home after midnight and a little tipsy. I hadnt speculated on what time I might be home, but by 11 there was a text from DH saying he's happy to pick me up at the tube station to walk me home if I needed. Then a little after 12 when I was walking home, he called. It was really sweet--I think girls like to be 'bothered' sometimes when they're out because it shows they care But, of course, last night he didn't get home until after midnight and I got all worried. I'm a worry wart too!
