wow, thats crazy! don't let it stress you out, in the long run this is not your fault and it should get straightened out. I have no idea how both banks could have such poor communication! I would be really annoyed about the holds on your deposits, thats not acceptable! Hope it works out!

when a bank does something wrong its always to the full extent and soo difficult and annoying to fix-its always many weeks until its resolved. its ridiculous.
first open an account at a completely different bank so that you can have your money deposited somewhere in the meantime and you might be so annoyed by the end of all this anyway so you may want to be at a new bank anyway.
If you have not already talk to both bank managers and call the 800 numbers at both banks to get this resolved. speak to the highest you can talk to because they'll keep this dragging out forever.
