A day in the life of you and your hubby..

A day in the life of you and your hubby..

Hey girls! I was just wondering what a typical weekday was like for you and your hubby. (afterwork)
I am worried because I feel like we have gotten into such a routine!

Here is ours:
We both get home around 5:30, we make dinner together, then clean a bit.
Then he either puts on a movie or plays a playstation game. I spend a great amount of time playing with our cat, then get into my PJs and either watch tv or do something crafty like make candles.
Then we go to bed.

We were talking about this the other night, that our lives have become so routine and we have only married for amost 3 months.
Its getting boring and I dont want to loose that fun young feeling that we have always had.
We are trying to save $ (for a house) so we are limited on entertainment $, which also puts a lot of stress on both of us.
I think that its ok not to really do anything during the week because we both have to work the next morning... We should really be saving our $ if we want to go out for the weekends.
Anyway I am just looking for some ideas and wondering what all of you other newly weds do typically on a weekday night?
Thanks

We both get home around 630- 7p (commuting from city to Bronx), Sometimes he goes to the gym or I may have something to do after work.

When we both get home, he plops in front of the tv or listens to music and I start dinner. We are usually talking and catching up during this time.

We eat, watch TV, crack jokes. At around 11ish he goes on the computer checks his email etc etc, I clean up the place a bit and by 12pm we are in bed

Pretty routine, but its ok.

Nowadays it's been TERRIBLE

Let's see, I wake up at 715, get on the train at 806, work for me starts at 930am.

While I'm doing this DH is just getting home from work. He wakes up about 3ish, does a few things at home and starts dinner.

I come home at 7pm, we sit, eat, watch TV and he gets ready for work around 815pm.

He leaves around 840pm.

I clean the dishes, put clothes away or whatever needs to be done. Pack a bag and head off to my parents! I do NOT sleep in that house alone! Call me a baby, lol, I don't care. We've only been living there for 2 months and it's half empty and scary!

Not my hubby yet, but we are pretty much routined especially on Saturdays.

He works 3pm - 11:30pm so he is gone at 2pm and I wont see him till midnight.

Friday nights we get to bed as soon as we can so we can get up early for WW on Satuday, do some shopping, run some errands, grab lunch and home in enough time for him to get ready to go to work.

His only days off are Mondays and Tuesdays.

To shake things up we are always playing jokes on each other. He'll take one of my shoes and hide it, then kick the other under the bed. So while I am going mad looking for the pair he's crying from laughing so hard.

That's ok, I get him back. I tied all his socks together

So yea things may seem routined but they dont really bother us. It's nice knowing that at midnight he'll be home, and we'll talk about his day, talk about things that happened through out the day and then head to bed and fall asleep next to the one we love

Octbride03: definatly not a baby, i cant sleep either when he isn't home.

Re: A day in the life of you and your hubby..

Weekdays are a little difficult for us since we both work pretty long hours...

I leave for work at 6:30 am and get home at about 8:00 pm

He leaves for work at about 9:00 am and gets home between 7:30 and 8:30 pm.

Who ever gets home first walks the puppy.

I start dinner and we are usually eating at about 9:00 pm. During making dinner he usually sits with me in the kitchen and we catch up on our day and discuss whatever needs to be and look over the mail. We eat dinner and chat some more and always eat at the table not infront of the tv. I like to spend a little quality time with DH : ).

After dinner he usually plays a computer game or does bills and I usually do a load of laundry or clean up a bit. I sit down finally around 10:30 and check my emails and log into work quick to make sure nothing is going on. Then we both get into bed at around 11:30ish and watch tv and stuff and usually get to sleep at around 1ish.

The weekends are totally different though, we are normally both off and try to do date things. We'll always go to dinner or catch a movie, go to the city for the day or something like that. The weekends are our time to have fun!!!

Routine here!!

I wake up at 6am curse that it is still dark all the way to the bathroom. I get ready and am out the door sometime between 7am and 7:30am. He is still sleeping. He gets up and goes to the gym. He comes home around 11am fixes lunch and dinner for himself and leaves for work around 12:30pm. I get home from work sometime between 3:30 and 4:30 depending on the day. I straighten up grade paper BS on here do whatever 11pm I head to bed he gets home at midnight gives me a kiss on the forehead and come to bed around 2 am. Next days starts all over.

We also have a set routine, but I love routine because it keeps us organized and relaxed. That will change pretty soon though with our baby who's coming in February! But Im sure that eventually we'll have another routine set up.

I get home at around 5-5:30 everyday. DH doesn't get home until 8 usually. So I use this time to cook dinner, go shopping after work, get my nails done, catch up with friends, watch TV or whatever else I like. We have dinner at around 8, then we watch TV or just hang out on the couch and talk til 10. Then we hang out in our 'home office' til around 12. We'll do bills, or play around on our computers or read, etc.

Allison...I know I'm always a zombie lol. I'm lucky if I get 5 hours a night...usually its about 4 hours though. I'm just use to it by now and I make up for it on the weekends : ).

Let's see, it depends on what day it is b/c most days I am at the gym after work and Roger usually goes straight home, he gets home by about 6:30 pm. I get home between 8 and 9:30 depending on which gym day it is.

Roger usually has eaten by the time I get home, I do not eat, I shower, we lay in bed watch the news, talk, or pray together then fall asleep. Friday to Sundays are our non-routine days.

we are both usally home from work at around 6:00ishpm. we then cook dinner - its been very uncreative since we got married becuase time is soooo limited. if we don't cook dinner at home - we mooch off my parents :)
after dinner, we do some light cleaning, iron work clothes for the next day, make our lunch, bank/bill stuff, minor house projects (paint molding, install closet organizers, etc.)
with all that, and since our wedding we have not gone to bed earlier than 11:30!!! we're both SHOT :(
and our jobs require us to be very functional.
hopefully once the house is all done - we'll have time for some fun and relaxation. although painting molding togther, while listening to 80's tune is pretty fun.

don't worry - after you get the house and get settled, you'll have more time for fun activites.
but really who does fun stuff monday-thursday anyway :)

Thanks! That was exactly what I was wondering! It seems like we all have a schedule during the week and then try to have our fun on the weekends

Re: A day in the life of you and your hubby..

Routine here too! DH gets up for work around 530am and leaves before I get up. He gets home from work around 530pm... I get up around 730am and get home usually b/w 6:15 and 7pm depending on how late I stay. As soon as I get home, I prepare dinner while DH is on the computer checking email, doing bills, playing games etc. Then we eat dinner and clean up some......

Two nights a week I head out to the gym until 9 then get home and we plop in front of the TV or listen to music or read or whatever until 11ish. DH usually goes to bed before me at 10.

Weekends are less routine but still filled with chores, going to the gym as well as fun! It's married life for ya - totally normal & the way I like it!

Re: A day in the life of you and your hubby..

During the week we don't really do anything out of the ordinary. The big thrill is doing laundry on Wednesday instead of Thursday

DH goes to be very early so we usually have dinner and he goes to bed. I'll clean up the kitchen then do bills, play online or watch tv, etc.

On the weekends is when we spend real quality time together - it could be playing cards, going shopping or for a ride, out to lunch, visiting someone or having someone come to our place. We do frequent weekends away to kind of unwind without feeling like we are ignoring a chore or errand.

On the 21st of each month we try to plan a nice dinner or evening out for our anniversary day.

I don't think of it as routine but comfortable.

Re: A day in the life of you and your hubby..

we have zero routine due to my unpredictable work schedule which is why i am getting out of corporate. 9 times out of 10, hubby leaves for work after me and gets home waaaay before me.

if i'm working late, he'll make himself a bowl of cereal or soup and spend the night on the computer (he's a big Everquest player). very rarely will he watch TV by himself, he's just not a big TV watcher. on the rare nights that i am home early, i usually make dinner and we will watch a little TV together (usually West Wing re-runs on Bravo). after dinner we usually play a little PS2. if there's something good on TV, we will watch a little TV or put in a DVD. if there's nothing good on TV, i may work on my crafts while he is on the computer. i'm usually in bed by 10-11pm, so after i go to bed, he's on the computer playing his game. he's a night owl and usually doesn't go to bed until 1-2am.

i can't wait to have a 'set' schedule so that i can actually have a routine!!!

Re: A day in the life of you and your hubby..

We have messed up schedules, I don't even know where to begin. Well he usually gets up at 10 to go commute to NJ for work. I am usually sleeping all day and get up around 5pm to go to work at 8pm. He comes home from work around 1am and I come home around 9am and go right to bed. Thankfully, we usually both have weekends off together.
