A fun topic for today: 10/11/2002

If there was anything you could have done differently at your wedding, what would it be??

The things I would have done differently are:

1) I would have rented a dress instead of buying

2) I would have reminded my Dj to have us jump the broom

3) I would have reminded my photographer to take some fun shots that I wanted such as, us in the limo, the girls and I in the limo, and a couple others

That's all I can think of right now. I am sure as you ladies share I will remember others, but for now these are the main ones

Hope everyone is enjoying the rainy weather

Have a wonderful weekend All

I would have:

1. Gotten another DJ he stunk (Island Entertainment)

2. I would have not have wanted DH's best man's wife there...eeeww I hate her (they are no divorced)

3. I would have NOT picked a hall over an hour away from my church.

4. I wouldn't have spent SO MUCH MONEY

(1)I would have talked to my DH about the danger of getting into 'real conversations' with too many guests. He wants to kick himself for missing the entire cocktail hour. He would say he was just getting up to go to the bathroom, and he'd be gone for 1/2 an hour! But what are you going to do -- even if I warned him, he still would have done his thing.

(2)I also would have dropped my guest count to the reception hall in order to account for no-shows & last minute cancellations (we had a ton!)

(3) I'd also probably spend more money on flowers

(4) I wish I'd taken the time to check my makeup more often

(5) When we arrived at the reception hall, I wish we had gone outside and taken some pictures (We were all just running around & rlaxing -- and next thing you know -- guests were arriving!)

Even so, I really enjoyed our wedding -- thankfully none of these little 'oops' were anything major.

I have to say, yes I would have checked my lipstick my foundation was airbrush so no need for that to be touched

I would have gone ahead and paid the extra to get the 2 seater Rolls Royce that I really wanted insteaed of the stretch for me and hubby, I really wanted that car, he said the extra money was not worth it

Looking back I enjoyed ever single minute.

Oh yes those guest definitely can get you in to some real conversations if you do not watch it

All minor, but I would have:

Skipped the pew bows - I had to ask a BM if they had even been put up - I only saw them in the pictures!

Skipped the gloves - I ended up not really caring how they looked in the pictures

Taken more pictures with my mother in the AM at the hotel

Taken pictures in the lovely lobby of the hotel with the bridesmaids, instead of in the rather plain hotel room. (we lived out of town at the time, so we had to use a hotel as home base - my family lives in Arizona!)

Remembered to have someone take the programs to the church! Someone ran back to get them - almost too late!

Left a little extra time between the ceremony and the reception. We had so many people at the church that the receiving line took forever. Even the priest commented - almost everyone at the reception was at the church.

Checked to make sure the front bridal dais was going to be set up the way we wanted. They had the bridal party way off to the sides, and us on a raised platform. We wanted to be in the center of a long dais so we could also chat with the bridal party if we were sitting. I ended up eating alone at times because I was hungry and hubby was up chatting.

I also had a special song dedicated to hubby that I wanted to dance to, and the DJ just announced it, without calling us to the center of the floor. I happened to hear, and tried to get hubby to the dance floor, but one of his cousin's tried to stop us and wouldn't stop yakking! We missed most of the song.

Only other thing I can think of is that MIL made a big fuss about 'family' pictures with me, hubby, her and the ex husband. Hubby really did not care about pictures with his father (long story) but MIL thought it was proper. End result is that she fussed so much about all these various family combinations that we did not get any of just her with hubby and I so all the 'family' shots have her ex in it.

OH - and if it wasn't a financial consideration, we would have had all of the distant cousin's children (5-18 range - about 40 of them in all) included. We see them at all the family events and wanted them but could not swing having them included - the guest list would have been approaching 300.

And I really wish my brother had brought his little girl and his son I wanted them there, but son is from a former relationship so there were complications there, and his daughter was just an baby. Still - I wanted all my family there.

I would have nixed the gloves, I wore them to the alter and as soon as the pastor told us to hold hands I got rid of them and that was it.

I did pew bows too, I see them in the picture and I decorated the church the night before so I saw them Hubby said the church looked nice. I don't even think it was necessary.

All my family from Jamaica came and that made so much of a difference.

I wish I could have invited more of my friends but then our guest list would have been way too much.

Thanks for sharing ladies

These are all minor really...our day was perfect and there is nothing major or important about the day that I would change. But if I had the chance again:

I would have made a must-have photo list;

I would have taken pictures with all the families that attended, not just immediate families;

I would have taken pictures on the beach, like I wanted to do originally, but blew it off the day of the wedding b/c I got so excited when guests started arriving!

I would have made our videographer stay until the very last song;

I would have checked to make sure the limo company rolled out the runner for me at the church!

I would have made programs for our ceremony (I don't think any of our guests missed them, but I just wish I had something now as a keepsake).

i WOULD have not walked away when I noticed one box on stage and my DJ told me dont worry we will get it and no ONE Of my guests ever got tambourines or sunglasses,
never believe them if you notice something amiss!!

Re: A fun topic for today: 10/11/2002

I just remembered another one, I wish my photographer had taken pictures of our programs, my mom saved me one, so I have that.

I wish I had had my photographer's assistant go to take some getting ready shots of hubby, his brother took the ones we have.

I know we plan and plan, but come the day of, it seems as if in all our joy we forget everything I know when I entered the cocktail hour I forgot about taking pictures with each table.

Ladies I have have to agree these things are just minor things and did not change the memory of the day one single iota

I love looking back, especially at the lovely video

Of course, all minor things, like everyone said . . .

#1) I would've insisted that the photographer and videographer stayed until the last song (like Claud said). They missed a great big family/friend dance -
My video guy also took us outside the reception to record a 'thank you' message at a really bad time - I ended up missing one of the only songs I really wanted them to play at the wedding - Of course no one had any idea when it would happen -

#2) I would've asked the photographer to get some shots of people who didn't dance.

#3) I would've been more assertive with the florist on what I wanted for my bouquet. He pressured me into mostly white and I really wanted no white, all color -

#4) I would've nixed the travel agent and planned our honeymoon on our own - Saved some money -

#5) There was one guest I wish I invited (someone who my DH and I used to work with).

Nevertheless, it was an amazing day -

I would have:

1. Worn my gloves in pictures...I wore them down the aisle, but never put them back on!
2. Made sure my sister knew how to bustle my dress correctly...she bustled it - but in the video it's hanging.
3. Spent less time talking to my guests and more time dancing...we danced a lot (i thought)- but I don't see us dancing on our video!!
4. Spent extra $$ on a photo journalistic photographer
5. Selected another hairstyle - it looked good but.. have seen nicer since.

Hey not too many things...was really such a perfect day. I couldn't ask for anything more. but when you get to step back and analyze - you come up with a few!

I loved every aspect of my wedding but if I could have changed anything it would have been
1) the date --we were married 9/16/01
2) wouldn't have spent so much money

Let's see, nothing major, because I really did love my whole day, but:

I really wish I could have had the date I originally wanted -- October 13 -- but really what's the difference, it's the day that matters!

I wish my balloons didn't fly away from the limo driver before I got out of church (thought that would **** me off, but actually told the driver 'whatever' that day)

I wish I remembered to take a picture with my godparents (one passed away 6 months after and she was only able to come to the church )

I wish I made my DH take a separate pic w/his 'nanny' (he took one w/both and he's really close to this one)

I wish I would have done the seating different at 2 tables -- that's the only thing that REALLY bothers me!!!! I just would have switched a couple of people around.

I wish I didn't sob my way down the aisle and look ridiculous in the process!

I wish I had my makeup to touch up while taking pics in the park!

I wish my bridal party wasn't freezing their a$$es off and had to stay in the limo while we were taking pics in the park, so that they could've taken some 'candid' shots of us!!!!

I wish my photographer took a pic of us w/the BM & MOH -- don't know how we all forgot that one -- took a bizzillion other shots!

I wish I knew that the ones that didn't come weren't coming sooner so that I could've invited the ones I REALLY wanted to be there!

I wish my DH didn't disappear in the bathroom for the whole Tarantella, especially the part when the DJ said 'everybody charge the bride & groom' and I'm dancing w/his cousin, the BM!!!!! DH gets upset w/that, I think it's quite funny, especially when on the video you see everyone asking me and me telling them where he went!!!

Geez, I thought in my head it was a few things, but as I sit here, more keep coming!! LOL

All in all, I have to say that after the rain stopped and the sun miraculously came out that day, I had THE BEST DAY OF MY LIFE and really wouldn't change a blessed thing!!! Things happen for a reason!!

Oh and don't we ALL wish we could've spent LESS!!!!

The only thing I would change is not going 'cheap' on my video. I love my video, but I can only imagine what it could have been if we had shelled out the $$ to go the extra mile.
Everything else was 250% perfect!

I wish I would have remembered to put my blusher over my face.

And I wish we would have gotten pictures with our whole families. By the time we finished all the other pictures we just didn't feel like taking any more pictures plus we didn't feel like trying to round everyone up.

Also, I had wanted to do a toast to my parents for their 30th wedding anniversary before they danced to their wedding song but the DJ made the announcement himself. Actually, at the time I was relieved I didn't have to talk into the microphone but I think it would have been more special if I had done the toast.

Re: debbie(bears)

Oh Tammy, I'm hysterical over here because once upon a time I didn't know what DH meant either, and I thought it meant something you can't post about (which still cracks several people on here)!!!!

DH means Dear/Darling Husband!!!!
