a little worried - updated this morning!

My bunny rabbit is not herself. She's moping around and hasn't come out to play. She was like this yesterday but DH said she was a little bit better before he went to bed. This morning she seemed ok but now she's lethargic and just not herself. She ate her breakfast but hasn't gone in to eat her dinner yet .... which is very unlike her.

I am calling the bunny vet first thing tomorrow morning, but if you could spare some prayers for Sniffles, I'd appreciate it.

She's 11 years old (VERY OLD for a bunny) and I am worried sick. Not only that but I am leaving for Disney Thursday and the thought of leaving my baby home sick with DH makes me want to cancel my trip.........

SECOND UPDATE: Sniffles made it through the night!!!! Her temperature is still a little bit low (which is a sign of shock). She did nibble on some hay which is a good sign but to keep things moving in her intestines they force fed her at 4 am. Her blood work came back 'a little bit off' but nothing too serious. They don't see a blockage - which is another good sign.

I have an appointment with the exotic specialist at 12 today so I will update then. DH is going to freak out when he finds out that last night cost $708!!! However, he can bite it if he even thinks about complaining to me. She's my baby.

She's not out of the woods yet, but I'm a lot more hopeful than I was last night.

I took Sniffles to the 24 hour emergency vet clinic. She is a very sick bunny. They are keeping her overnight and hope that they can reverse the problem. It appears she has a very common rabbit gastro-intestinal problem. It can be deadly but I caught it early.

Unfortunately, her age is working against her. The vet said if she was 4 or 5 they would give her a 90% chance of survival. Being that she's 11 (average life expectancy for a rabbit is 8), they don't even want to guess.

I left her at the hospital tonight and will be calling in a few hours to check on her. I have an appointment there with the exotic pets specialist at noon.

Please keep my fur baby in your thoughts.
