A Question for Thought, since we already have Q of the D

Original post by Toucan311

How would you classify yourself in High school - what group were you in, etc? (for example, DANA was Homecoming Queen)

How are you different today?

I was a fat theater girl who did the PA announcments in the morning. How awful.

I was a nerd and a band geek! I was in all the advanced/honors classes, I played the flute and never cut class. Total nerd. BUT I wouldn't change it for anything because my whole group of friends from HS are still very close and I love them!

i definitely cut class a decent amount. It was funny bc one day i was talking about something to dh and mentioned cutting class and he made a face and said 'UGH you used to cut class' i said yeah and said 'you never did?' he said no never, he annoyed me with his response bc he made me seem like i was the worst person lol. I wish i can go back, i would do things so differently

I was definitely different than I am now.

I was very shy, very quiet. I didn't have any friends really, and I was picked on alot. My mom was a single mom and we didn't have alot of money, so I had to wear hand me downs, and you know how kids are when you don't wear the new 'NIKES' that everyone else is wearing lol I don't know how I made it through to graduation lol

I am definitely more confident and outgoing now.

SAME WITH ME!!!! i went to a public school in 7th and 8th grade and i never had the 'in' clothes or 'in' look so i was SO SO SO picked on... it suucked!

but i went to a catholic HS so we all wore the same thing... but public school was HORRIBLE for me!

I wish I would've gone to a school where uniforms were enforced. This is one of the reasons why I am so adimant about them passing a rule to have all schools have uniforms. It will save parents money on buying kids the 'in' clothes, and it will save alot of children from being made fun of for not wearing what's 'new'. It really took a toll on my self esteem.

But I seem to be doing much better now :)

not cutting class is so not normal lol!

i couldnt stand those kind of kids lol. one of my friends seriously was afraid to cut class on 9/11! we were given the option to leave to go home but she was afraid to because she didnt want to miss her classes! needless to say she was the only one in her class later on that day.

i was never in any kind of crowd.i hung out with a select few of friends and we would befriend all different kinds of people. i wasnt into any clubs or anything because i was so shy and just preferred getting school out of the way and going home to hang out with my friends.

He shouldn't have made you feel so bad lol I didn't cut class until I was in my Junior year. It was so awesome the first time I did it, I felt like I beat the system. I didn't want to go to stupid history class, so when the bell rang, I just stayed in the library lol

I NEVER ever cut class. All my friends did but I never did. I was too chicken sh*t. I think it was more that I didnt want my parents finding out cause THAT would have been a hugee problem. Especially with mom lol I was already in trouble for never ever doing my Homework and my grades slipped. But overall I was a nice student lol

my HS was cutting out central lol. It was bad, we would all cut class and then to get back in was a bit tricky. You couldnt walk in through the front bc they looked at your ID and your program card, and if you started earlier you'd get in trouble for coming in late and the side doors you couldnt open from the outside. So there was always a HUGE group of kids standing outside those doors when the bell rang and kids were leaving school and we'd wait for somebody to open the door and run back in. The difficult part was that after that there was another door that ALSO was locked from the outside and had to make sure somebody was walking out right then too lol, and this was all by the security desk so we had to run for our lives lol.

Yeah dh was one of those kids. He was more shy, quiet and a real good kid up until his fresman year in college, that summer after his first year he blossomed and all of a sudden started partying and doing stuff. Before that he went to school, did very well and just about everyday after school had sports so always did that too and didnt hang out after school just doing nothing since he always had some activity to do whether it was baseball, soccer, track or something lol. We grew up in the same neighborhood and when i talk about trouble we used to get into or just hanging around the neighborhood doing nothing with everybody he makes faces lol

i wish i didnt cut class. It was easy for me bc my parents werent home during schools hours they were working so if i got caught and they called the house nobody would be home and if they left a message i got home before them and was able to erase it.

you just gave me flashbacks lol. we used to have to do the same thing!- it was like mission impossible trying to get back in. and it was hard because a precinct was just down the hil and so was the truancy office. luckily for me, my bf lived right across the street so if we couldnt get back in we would just go to her house.

lol yeah i think it was a queens thing and other boroughs a few years ago i had to pick up my cousin from her HS, it was LIC HS and while i was in the car outside waiting for her, i saw them all doing the same thing. I just sat there laughing bc i remember exactly how it was. Yeah we also had the cops driving around plus we had a crazy dean who was an ex cop and did security for celebrities and was out of his mind who would run around the whole area looking for kids cutting class

I was a band geek and was in all the honors classes. . .I talked to a lot of different people (I like everyone, usually. . .so if people were nice to me, I was nice back!)

If I could go back, I would do things exactly the same. I'm still friends with most of the girls from HS and I'm happy the way we all turned out

For some reason those disappeared YEARS ago, i wonder if my mom hid them so nobody would see those pics of me anymore my friend has good ones, i need to get them from her and make copies, they are histerical.

Re: A Question for Thought, since we already have Q of the D

hmm...i don't really now how i would really classify myself. I had a few very good/best friends - one of which was a guy, but i was friends/aquintances with everyone...the jocks, freaks, not-so-popular, thugs, etc. I will say that aside from my few close friends, I didn't really hang out with people outside of school because i was so involved with dance/theatre/church/singing..almost every night of the week i was at some sort of rehearsal..so most of my relationships with them stayed in school...so that's why I wouldn't say i was in the super 'popular' crowd..because i kind of mingled with everyone i knew...which is also why i never dated anyone in my school - all my bf's were from outside so people didn't normally like that lol. I was also friends with a lot of the older people..the class above me, etc. So by senior year I had my few close friends..the rest were hi & byes. My senior year was also when i met my hubby - so that was my life...i remember he used to pick me up after school in his cool red car LOL. I was also in every single musical/drama that we did in school(lol won 'most likely to be famous' in the yearbook )was on kickline up until junior year, in chorus, etc. i LOVED spirit week..always dressed up for every single theme lol. Maybe i was a popular dork??? i did win 2nd court for prom queen i dont know. i just know i liked everybody. I also didn't party in hs...infact i never even had a drink untill after I graduated...went to the parties but never got into it. I still talk to everyone online via myspace/facebook - but i really only hang out with those few best friends that i mentioned before.
