I had deleted this figuring it could be misinterpreted and didn't want to cause problems. -----------------------------------------
but then people replied after I deleted. I was just commenting on the number of posts started by brides on this board now. I'm afraid its going to be the next BHB...
I'm not objecting to brides posting here, I did too as a bride, just noticed its happening more and more often. I go to BHB when I want to help with wedding planning. This is our sanctuary

Re: just noticed
Get ready, because you are gonna be inundated with posts in June! The May girls are coming!!
And I think it's because people assume they can get more reliable advice on the newleywed side..the been there done that thing.
Lisa...it wasn't offensive, it was a valid point really...I noticed it and I'm not a newleywed yet!

Re: just noticed
I haven't been around a lot in past few weeks, but I have noticed the same thing. I don't mind answering a few questions here and there, but I do not want to see the repetitive questions that occurs on the BHB board. Some of these question have been answered a million times (not literally), and can be easily answered by doing a search. I just wish the search feature would be utilized before making a post.

Re: just noticed
so much for my deleting!
yay May! looking forward to you girls moving over!
It also drives me crazy when people post the same thing on EVERY board. I can't be the only one that reads more than one section of this site - it doesn't need to be on BHB, NWR and Newlyweds!
Natasha- I don't think many people search - its easier just to post, but it does get tiresome for us longtimers. Especially since the questions are spilling over to the Newlywed side more and more often.
Thanks for your support Misty - I thought it was diplomatically worded, but some folks may be a little more sensitive than others.

Re: just noticed
of the 20 posts I see on page 1, 13 were started by brides. Leaving only 7 from newlyweds. We're being inundated! We're the minority on our own board!
sorry, getting a little territorial

Re: just noticed
Lisa - I've felt the same way for awhile now - one of the reasons I don't give more than a quick glance at the Newlyweds board. Also, being 2 years past my wedding day, I've moved on even past the name change, album, thank you note and so forth type of questions.
I find I'm mostly drawn to the home and garden, furniture, craft and what to do in LI topics. If I don't see something like that in the topic to grab my attention I tend to pass by. You used to see more of that on the NWR board, but some days it's hard to find anything intersting in all the chatter that finds it's way to that board.

Re: just noticed
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you ! for putting into words what I have been feeling for a while now. Before I was married I would not have posted on the Newlywed board....AT ALL...even if it was something like a b-day. Now ever other post is about a DJ, or tipping question. No offence to any bride that posts here but this is a place for us to discuss things that affact our lives after the wedding planning!
So with that said, I call all Newlyweds back to the board and lets start talking about home stuff, crafts and other things that happen in our lives.

Lisa can I hold you and kiss you, I hope no one is offended, but I do not like the bridal questions over here either.

Re: just noticed
I dunno, even though I never posted on this board as a bride.
I look at it this way, the vendor board is for vendors to help brides.. so the newlywed board is for us to help brides as well.
The NWR seems more like the board that is more of just everyday stuff. I hate though when wedding stuff gets on their.
I dunno, I just look at it this way.. Vendor wise a bride can't help you!! I don't care how nice your vendor was when they booked you, or took your money it all depends on how they were on your day and after ( if it involves an album or video) SO, naturally I understand why a bride may try to come here.
I had great success with all my vendors. I booked them in Feb 02, had to postponed them in on June 1st for my July 5th wedding and they all jumped though hoops for me on August 25th when we were able to reschedule our date of Septemeber 27th! Even now, I'm out of state and moving again in a month or so and I have the Commack wedding center pushing my digital album though. I only picked my pictures in late feb of this year and my mom ok'ed the proofs and the album is arriving in commack tomorrow so my parents can fly down with it next weekend.
(btw, can you tell I'm excitied!)

Re: just noticed
I disagree - The name of this section is actually 'for newlyweds only' - that used to be up in the tab, but they ran out of space.
Here's the description: For Newlyweds Only Long Island Newlyweds Unite! From engagement to honeymoon, the planning and all the bumps along the way, you made it! You're married, congratulations. But, you still have questions and concerns? Well, here's the place for you.
Its not about helping brides with planning - we're all brides (past, present and future), and we can help the future brides on BHB.
I understand WHY they want to post here, but a lot of us are on BHB often. We'll answer your questions there.

Re: just noticed
I tend to post my questions here because I get more answers here than on BHB!!! I am not joking too. Its actually a bit sad, and Lisa, I don't disagree with you on this. But usually BHB never gets my question answered. And you guys don't visit it like you used too...
Don't mean to cause a fire, but just trying to explain my actions.

Re: just noticed
Lisa I agree 100% this is our area to discuss the NW life and what not, we do not mind answering questions, we just don't want them in the NW section

Re: just noticed
Great I'm glad you disagree Lisa, and that is what is cool about this side of the board. We don't seem to have the wars BHB have had from time to time.
But in the long run, if you have an emergency and you need to use a restroom and there is a mensroom only in sight with no one there to yell at you. You use the mensroom.
We have all been in situations were we have needed to use something that the label may not have fit correctly because it was important to us. I just see the girls feeling the same way when they post here
( yeah, that is a real rough analogy.. but its true)

Re: just noticed
Love the analogy!
and I didn't mind the occasional question over here, when they weren't getting the info they needed (or if the woman's room had a long line )
But in the last week or so, its been nutty! More bride questions and re-posts from BHB than anything else. Thats what provoked this thread.

Re: just noticed
Lisa, I must have read it too fast b/c I think I missed the men's room comparison with this side, do you mean they use whatever is at their disposal. Well this is one of 5 boards so they have many other bathrooms to choose from. This is the executive room, not everyone gets to use it

Re: just noticed
No problem Lisa, I understand and I missed your first post since it is edited. I just wouldn't want someone that really needed the help to get deterred from asking it just by seeing this post.
Plus, I'm only around when DH is out of the state flying so I might have missed it
Shamma
Sorry you didn't understand. My point was that sometimes you need to seek 'relief' or help by going aganist a sign. A sign being a ' Mens Room' and you being a female. Also you mentioned the other boards for help, I have posted a few times on parenting even though I am not a parent and had a miscarriage, and they were able to understand and let me in their executive club. I really think you took my opionion the wrong way, and I'm sorry you found it so funny.
I didn't say it was the best analogy, but it worked for Lisa and that was who I was addressing it to.
Hope you can follow now
