Here's the question: if a married person attends your wedding, but their spouse does not, and he doesn't give a gift, do you make the thank you out to both of them, or just to the person who showed up?
We had two guests (one of my friends and one of DH's friends) attend as singles, even though they're both married. DH's friend's wife couldn't make it, and he RSVPd that he'd attend alone. My friend, however, did RSVP that they'd both come, then he called me the day before and said it would just be him. (Wife really didn't have a good excuse either). Neither of our friends gave us a gift (or even a card). I'm actually not bothered that they didn't give us anything, but a card would have been nice. Now we're doing our TYs and I'm sending them to the non-gifters as well. So do I make the TY out to 'Mr. and Mrs.' or just to 'Mr.' since it's a 'thank you for coming' and she didn't come?
Hope that makes sense!

Re: Addressing TY notes (yep, another question)
Since neither of them gave you a gift, and only one of each couple attended, I would just make the card out to the person who came, but say that you were sorry the other person couldn't attend.

I agree. Make it out to the person that came, thank them for sharing in your day, and mention that you are sorry their spouse couldnt make it.

Thanks, ladies. I made them out to the guest who attended and said we were sorry their spouse couldn't make it, and we hoped to see them both soon. I guess I shouldn't worry too much about etiquette, since they also broke etiquette by not even bringing a card!
