I can't stop thinking about this timeshare in St. Lucia in the same town as the resort we went on our honeymoon at and its the same 3 wall 'open air concept'
look at the suite photos! it totally reminds me of our honeymoon

Although it's beautiful, don't do it. DH and I bought a timeshare years ago and we have yet to use it. I think if you're able to travel somewhere at least once a year, then it's worth it. Ours is even better than a regular timeshare that you get a week in a single location. Ours is based on points and we can go anywhere in the world there is a resort. I'm hoping we get to use it next February/March when we go to London since they have a resort there.

I wonder if it actually saves money? I'd love to go an vacation each year but it's the cost that doesn't allow it.
But it's beautiful. Can't wait for my Disney trip... I mean nursing conference in Florida which happens to be at disney.

Re: after listening to a timeshare sales pitch...
I regret our timeshare. We banked two weeks and are trying to get those in Aruba for August. Nothing coming up and we've been trying for weeks. Looks like we'll have to either go somewhere else if we can get it, or book a regular vacation.
When we were in Aruba last year, we went to a pitch at the Occidental. Lady kept telling me it will save me money. It was SO expensive and I told her that it would take me at least 15 years to recoup the timeshare investment before I saw any kind of 'savings'. She kept telling me no that's not true it will save you money. I told her that I know how to run numbers and not to insult my intelligence. Oh, and you HAVE to buy the all inclusive package too. I wasn't going to be suckered into her pitch. Told her that for that kind of money I could stay at more luxurious resorts and get better deals vacation wise, like I did at the Hyatt.

Re: after listening to a timeshare sales pitch...
we looked into a timeshare a couple years ago and for us it didnt pay- we are actually able to get cheaper arrangements on our own and not get locked into a certain resort.
The thing that got me was you pay upfront to purchase the weeks at the timeshare, you pay a yearly maintenance fee and then you pay a fee when you stay there- we couldnt see the savings
But my best friend has one and she loves it.

I have one that's points based also. We were going to use that for our honeymoon and we kind of did because they cross promote with the cruise program we booked through, but it really didn't eat any of our points for the year. We banked most of our points for last year and this year and are taking all our nieces and nephews to Conzumel in 2010.

That's what I'm hoping to do. We bought it with the intention of going on vacation, but we haven't yet.
Wow that looks nice! flights to St. Lucia are not cheap though :(
My parents have a timeshare and are often frusturated with the search fees to swap out and not to mention the yearly maintence fees are pretty steep too.
