So after a Super Bowl Party with DH, and seeing many different age groups, my question is this..............
WHAT DO YOU CONSIDER OLD???

Re: Age: What do you consider...OLD?
age doesn't affect me as much as MATURITY level..
i have hung out with 38 year olds who act like 10 year olds (see Dave)...
I have hung out with 25 year olds who act like 30 year olds...

Re: Age: What do you consider...OLD?
My issue is...as I countdown the hours to 30....
I have more in common with the 50 year olds than I do with the 35-45 year olds.
Am I OLD? Or...am I just accepting of my age and not one of the 35-45 year olds that are jealous that I am only going to be 30?
It shocked me that these 32-48 year olds were so.....shall I say............juvenile?

I agree more with Jess I don't think the number means as much as someone's maturity level. I know people who grew up too fast did everything when they were 18 - 25 and now at 42 they are acting like kids again. I also know some that just never grow up.
My own experience. I was fine with 30 didn't love 35 and was okay with 40 but am having issues with being 43 this year.

I think old is what you limit yourself to do.. It is like the other posters said.. there are people who are older and act younger and younger and act older.
However for a general age 55

I honestly think old is around 75...60 is not old, since my parents are about 9 years away and they are most definitely NOT anywhere close to old!

like everyone else I dont think of a certain number as old- my grandmother is 88- but you would never know it if you saw her or were around her- she has a young spirit.

i really think its your lifestyle and thinking that you figure out 'old' like someone at work is 27 and we swore he was like 40+ because of how he looks, acts, etc but people at work think I am 23-25 and I am turning 30! It is more because of the way I act and feel.
But I think around 66+ is when you can say old in my book. 75+ is ancient unless your one of those few lucky people at that age that really love and live life.

well since i am 35 (old..haha) my Dh is 43 and my parents are 74 & 69 and still kickin' butt i don't think of old as a # but more of a condition...i've seen 80 yr olds that could run circles around people in their 60's and 20 yr olds who could barely run a block...we have friends in their 50's who are more fun than some 30 yr olds...i think it's a matter of personality & lifestyle

Age really is nothing but a number to me.
I think you are as old as you feel. If you are 80 and still able to walk and get around by yourself, then good for you!

i definitely agree that 'old' is a state of mind. i work with professors that are in their 70's and most days they have more energy than me!!

Re: Age: What do you consider...OLD?
i'll be 24 in a week
i feel OLD
well maybe not old but OLDER than friends and co-workers that are around my age (25-30)...
i grew up fast and i'd like to think that i am pretty mature for my age....def still silly and dorky - but i've been through a lot (good and bad) and i've accomplished a lot......
DH and I are the only married couple out of our friends - and we have been living together for a few years - which none of our friends live on their own yet either.....so in that sense we feel old (relative to our peers) BUT then we look at DH's sister who is only a few years older than us (she is 30) and she is having her second kid next month and her lifestyle seems pretty old and boring compared to ours - and we probably seem old and boring compared to the rest of our friends
i used to think 50 was old but my mom just turned 50 and i don't like to think of her as old.......my dad is 58 - so he is almost 60 (same age as DH's parents) and they don't seem old to me either.......
the older i get (or feel i should say ) the less old everyone else seems....

Old is definitely a mindset. My parents are in their early 60s and I don't think of them as old. I knew a woman (rest her soul) that was weed whacking her yard at 88!

Re: Age: What do you consider...OLD?
I am 27 and DH is 28. One of his close friends who he plays darts with , hunts, and fishes with is 57 (our parents are not even 50) and my really close friend from work is 47. I dont think age matters. I use to think 40 was old but not now. I too and so does DH get along with older people. I dont think its that we are excepting of our age b/c I am not to happy about turing 30 in three years but that we are just excepting of people for who they are.
