Airfare prices! My flight went up $200 dollars in 2 hours!
So, we have a destination wedding in Jamaica in June. It's very bad timing but it's dh's best friend so he really wants to go.
So I found a roundtrip, non stop flight for $285. great, deal, right? So I call DH, cannot get him on the phone.
Two hours later, the SAME exact flight was $517!!
So, my question is, do you think that prices will go down again? I can't believe how much it went up in TWO hours!!

I would call the airline and tell them you just saw it online for $200 and when you went to proceed with your order the price jumped.... see if they honor it! But it's going to be pricy now b/c Winter break is next week, and everyone wants to get away. I 'm sure in April or May it will probably drop.

I saw airfare to NC for $325 (round-trip for 2 people) so I jumped on it. I was scared that it would go up. Keep checking the prices!

I heard that when a lot of people are looking at the same flight at the same time the prices go up. I don't know how true it is, but that could be the reason

That's a really high jump but it is normal. Did you try a search on kayak.com? They show the best prices available.

Thanks girls, I'm going to call Air Jamaica directly.
With everything that's going on, I want to make sure that we get the best price! Oy, this wedding is going to cost us $$$$! The rooms are very expensive.

It's funny, I JUST went on Kayak and the same flight that jumped to $517 is now $411!
It's so funny how the cost just changes minute to minute!!

if you're looking at something like expedia or something, my friend who works in advertising said to clear your cache and try again or use a different computer.

I would call the airline first and see what they say. Then tonight around midnight check the fares again. It usually goes down. good luck

this is weird but my sister just booked st. martin on Monday and by wednesday the price went DOWN and she was PISSED. so it could definitely change. It's like gamblingsometimes when you book airfare - i refuse to check the price of our mexico trip to see if it went down b/c what's the point you know? But I agree - $285 was a great price, not so much over $500

southwest actually honors the lower fare. Although you don't get your money back, you get a credit for your next flight w/in a yr from orig purch date. That happened to us when we booked to Fla, it went up then down $100 for 2, so we got the credit. Although we never did use it though.
