Re: Aliciahelene....question for you

HI!!! I actually did them myself and heres why...I went to about 5 different photographers I wanted them done tastefully and looking at the different styles helped me to know what I like and dont like. I made an appt to have them done and then staretd getting nervous. I was going to make my sister go with me and she started syaing I could make these myself, so I stated thinking more and more about it. I already have a great digital camera, I bought great soft ware that could make any picture look good and and I played around. My pics came out GREAT! I bought a professional wedding album and just applied the pictures myself. www.4albums.com they had the best prices and I love the album. I also bought watercolor paper that can make a pic look like a painting.
I used several back drops and I showed my pics to my sisters and best friend and they couldnt believe I did them myself. My husband LOVES them, he 'reads' them every night like a bed time story He thought they were professional too because you can crop out any trace of an apt. The software I used was paint shop pro, and with this soft ware you can make pictures in Sepia, you can do the blind effect, of just your silhouette, you can do lights, almost like a strobe light, my pictures are very tasteful and not cheesy, atleast I dont think. If I can help you in any way, let me know. It does take ahwile to get the pics you like..I took so mnay pictures and then played around with them so to see what I could do with them, so its never to early to start. I think its a great gift and its even something kind of cool for you because when you are an old lady, you will have these nice pictures!! I know its not everyones style, but I actually had fun doing it because I did them myself. Please let me know if I can help.

Re: Aliciahelene....question for you

If you dont wnat to do them yourself, alot of photographers do it, they call it boudoir photography, but some pics were cheesy and I didnt like them.

Re: Aliciahelene....question for you

I talked to Doug at patken, but didnt discuss the price, his ideas were just different from what i was looking for, but I think if you tell him what you are looking for, he could do anything. Hes very talented. I live in Jersey, so I mostly looked here, there are a few places right near me and I also drove to south Jersey to check out one guy, you can also do a search on google and sometimes they'll have pics that show their style and you can get ideas. The avearge price if I remember correctly was around 500. But you could do just a few pictures, could even do 4X6 in nice small album. One guy also did your hair and makeup before the shoot. I did mine for less than 200, the album with pages came to about 80 and then paper and ink for my printer.
I think Anthony at Perceptions has a beautiful album, I saw it when we went for wedidng photoraphy, it was in black and white and GORGEOUS. His style is absolutely what I tried to make my album like. If I were to do them again..Id call him.

Re: Aliciahelene....question for you

The price I gave was for the shoot and teh pics, dont quote me, I checked this out along time ago, last summer and then decided to just do them myself. But there is some flexibility because you can do small sizes or fewer pics

Re: Aliciahelene....question for you

I may be wrong on this as well, but i THINK I can burn paint shop on to a CD. If you check out photographers and think you may want to attempt it yourself, let me know..Ill make ya a copy of my software. You would just need a good digital and agood printer.

Re: Aliciahelene....question for you

Yes, thats excatly how I found the photographers in my area, I punched in boudoir photography nj and alot came up. Also If I liked teh style of a certain photographers regular pics..I called them and asked if they did these types of pictures. Most did. When I first came to liweddings, I posted to see if anyone had done it or could recommend a good place, but no luck. I did love Perceptions, but I dont know how much they would charge. Definately worth a phone call though, they were the most beautiful pictures ever, tasteful and amazing. Yoru husband is going to flip when you give him yoru album!!!!
