Am I overreacting?

Original post by futuremrsfab

So I have a tendency to be over-dramatic- so I want to ask you girls if I am doing it again.

DH went out with a friend from work and his brother on Saturday. He came home at almost 5am- I was livid. I have only met the guy he works with once and never met the brother.

Anyway, so am I overreacting or would you be pissed to?

be brutally honest- I dont want anyone to agree with me if I am being crazy lol

Re: Am I overreacting?

I don't know. Now that we're married, me & DH rarely go out without one another. But when we were dating, i remember a couple times that he told me he'd call or get home at a certain time and then he'd miss it. And i would be PISSSED then! But that's just because i'm the type who can't handle being 'lied' to. If he tells me a time, then he better stick with it! But since you said that your DH didn't actually give you a time, then that wouldn't be an issue. For ME - 5am is way too late and i would be really upset about it. Not that he needs a 'curfew' but I'd at least appreciate him checking in. If DH did that, but at least called and/or texted frequently to let me know what's up, then I'd be a lot less aggravated with him.

I don't think you're wrong to be upset at all. That's really late to be coming home no matter what the situation (if he's driving, somebody else, or taking the train). I would expect him to think of me at least a little bit and try to get home at a decent hour or at least call so that I'm not worried that something happened. Jeez.

I dont think spouses should give eachother 'curfews' but there should be check in times and it should be spoken about when the person will be home. And if they wont be, they should call. I guess the reason I dont care what time DH comes home is because he doesnt do it alot and he is in CONSTANT contact with me. Asking me if Im okay, etc. he doesnt leave me out of the loop wondering what hes doing.

I agree with this. That being said if he went out with people I dont know till all hours it would up the ante and make me REALLY worried if I hadn't heard from him just bc it would be SO out of character for DH not to call me and fill me in on when they were getting home esp when it was THAT late.

You should buy new shoes to get back at him.

i think it all depends, i always get mad when DH goes out and he's bar hopping and gets home at like 5am! my reasoning is i can' get him to go out or stay up past 11! and i never usually bother him when hes out but if i text him or call he never hears his phone, Dh doesn't go out alot but still i always tell him what if there was an emergency you should always check your phone every couple of hours at least.
