Am I the Only One Can't Keep Food in my House

Is it just me. We have been married and living together going on 6 months. I never realized how much my husband eats. Really its like I can't keep enough food in the house. Also about how much do you all spend on groceries a month?

im right here with you!! i feel like i live in the supermarket!! when i was unemployed i would go so early in the morning (cause then there are no crowds and you have the store pretty much to yourself) the check out ladies used to call me by name!!!! thats when i told him he had to stop eating so much!!!

Edited to say that its just the two of us and on an average shopping if i have to buy meat its usually about 125.00 - 150.00 every time i go..

I don't know how much we spend a month because sometimes he goes shopping and sometimes I go.We also have been entertaining a lot so its not just us eating everything although we both have very hearty appetites.

Suzanne I think the supermarket can stay open on my shopping alone.

Yes I spend about that every time I go to the supermarket as well. The other day he went and spent $60. I had to go to the supermarket a few days later. I said honey really how long did you think that amount of food was going to last for both of us?

Never works for us either. We end up eating out and hubby buys lunch every day at work. I usually bring my lunch.

and his responce is always the same.. nah just some fruit..and of course like clockwork, when hes in the cabinets hes like 'didnt you get anything'...unbelievable!! (i never buy junk food unless he asks for it cause ill eat it all!!)

Rob loves to eat too ... he's gained weight since the wedding. But I have help ... my parents cook a lot for us and bring food over. So I don't feel the total food bill yet.

We tend to go through phases of having nothing and eating take out and then having lots of groceries. I tried to figure out how much we spend, last time I think it was $200 for just groceries a month, plus eating out Is this normal? DH hates going to the supermarket, but I always make him go with me, or he picks up things on a list that I give him on the way home from work. He calls it the STUPIDmarket but still wants me to cook dinner! He's too much!!

DH HATEs the supermarket!!! when he comes with me he does nothing but COMPLAIN the ENTIRE time!!!i cant take it so i make sure hell be home if i get a big order, and i sit in the driveway honking the horn until he comes out and he carries it in!!!

DH doesn't mind going to the supermarket but I think most men hate the grocery store. I hear a lot of wives say they do the grocery shopping b/c DH will not enter the place.

They say the supermarket is a good place to pick up men so I think all the men in there are in there b/c they have no wife and have no choice but to go in there.

Re: Am I the Only One Can't Keep Food in my House

We shop once a week, with average of $40-$60/weekly. Just for the two of us, and I cook only on sundays, and we eat out for breakfast and lunch during weekdays, and dinner on weekends. On weekdays FH eats something for dinner (I honestly don't know what, b/c by the time I get home he's already eaten), I have a snack. Weekend breakfasts is when most of our cereal/milk/bread is consumed. I also noticed that often we run out of fruits more often, so sometimes I have to buy fruits midweek. FH tells me that it doesn't matter how much fruit we'll buy, he'll just consume it all.

I think my husband is very unique in that he LOVES to grocery shop! We used to go together but since he enjoys going down every aisle ugh! and I dont he tends to go alone lately. We go about once a month and spend about $200 bucks. We eat out once or twice a week for dinner (and I eat my lunches out everyday)......groceries are $$! Then we hit the little deli/markets occasionally for fresh stuff during the week.

I go at least once a week & spend from $50 - $75 each time. Thats meats, fruits & all. Occasional mid week trips for cold cuts... but I make each of us a lunch for work every day & I cook dinner at least 4 times a week. Thankfully, mom always has us come for dinner at least once week & then leftovers! Plus, we also entertain quite a bit, so that adds up too! I never realized how much I really spend!! And he has come twice in 6 months with me..... I WILL NOT TAKE HIM FOOD SHOPPING AGAIN!!!! Like a kid, 'I want this, I want that....' Throwing things in the cart I don't see till the checkout counter!!

We go probably twice a month together. Are average cost is 120-160. My DH doesn't mind going and only complains when he sees the bill going over $100. He stands there and lets the groceries pile up and stares at the register.
