we have a wedding to go to the last weekend in december. my parents might come in for it. they don't know if they'll go back before new years or after. one of my sisters said it would be nice if everyone could spend news years together. my parents would be staying with my sister out in merrick, i live in brooklyn. i told my parents i don't like to be on the road for new years. i hear too many horror stories. i know something could happen in the area. i only like to stay local. am i wrong for not wanting to go out to merrick if my parents say past new years

You can leave to your sisters house during the morning hours... not in the evening or at night, if you fear drunk drivers....
how far away do your parents live? How often do you see them? Do you want to invite everyone to your house for New Years? Personally, i wouldnt miss any chance to be with my parents... especially since after i got married i get to spend such little time with them...

How often do you see your parents? if it isnt often then yes I have to say you are kind of wrong. Why not take the train and have someone pick you up? I just feel like if you dont see them that often you should spend time with them. However if you see them often then I dont think its that big of a deal not to JMO

I understand not wanting to drive on NYE, it makes perfect sense. Is taking the train an option? If not just spend as much time as possible

Re: Am I wrong
not wrong at all. You're a married woman now....you do what feels right. As long as you see them, that's what counts. And you will see them. If you want to be home for New Years, then that is what you do. Period.
