American Idol 4/29

The worst was that Dh had softball so i dvr'd it and waited to watch it until he gets home. He called me to tell me my cousin ruined it and text him about the show. Her favorite is Matt and he told me she said 'she was so happy' so i thought matt stayed, but dh didnt expect it to come down to adam and matt lol so i was so upset thinking adam was going home lol. He tricked me bc he didnt want to ruin it for me by saying my cousin said she was upset and give it away lol.

Thank god he is still on the show, he makes it entertaining plus next week is rock week. I don't think he is c*cky, he is the only one who thanks the band, and even has said he couldn't do it without the band, or credit goes out to them and makes sure to give them recognition, which the others never do. Or when the judges praise him, he always thanks them quite a few times and seems humble. I also watched the idol confessional and he spoke about doing plays and ppl told him to go to NY and try out for broadway shows but he didn't think he was good enough for that. He also talked about struggling and still trying to pursue your goals, he was saying how he worked retail jobs or did whatever to get by while trying to continue to do something with his music career. Even when the audience stands up for him you can see he is humble and always thanks everyone.

I felt bad for Matt but it was his time to go, compared to the other 4 he was a little bit weaker and the others were alot more consistent. I am just worried for Allison next week.

THANK YOU!!!!!!! everybody just assumes he is cocky but what did he ever do to display that? i dont know if anybody will have an answer. And oh a cocky singer, most are lol but i dont think he is. When did another AI, thank the band or anybody else and say things like 'i couldn't have done it without these guys' and how many say thank you to each and every judge for their compliments, only Adam.

And the fact that his songs are a lot more dl'ed than any of the other idols proves that yes he can sell albums, he has 6 out of the top 10 AI dl'ed songs, so obviously he has a following.

i mean looking at him it shows the star quality and his look does not scream broadway to me at all lol, and his style of music doesn't either. He did plays in hollywood to get by and to try and get his foot in the door somehow. His style is for something else. I dont see him singing a duet with Lea solangea(big broadway star) not what pops into my mind

Im sad that Matt went home but i guess it was time. I agree that it will be down to Adam and Danny but i just cant see Adam having a successful album at all. I see him on broadway, yes, but selling music and concerts- no way.

i dont see what genre Danny would fit into, and most ppl are starting to get bored with him already and the show isnt even done yet. All the MB on MSNBC when they post an AI article and then you comment on it, are all saying the same thing. Hes not pop, r&b so doesnt fit into that. He is more adult contemporary. Plus every performance is starting to sound exactly alike for him, you just know exactly what he will do. I think Kris is really catching up now and getting alot of the votes, i thought it would be Danny/Adam showdown but i think might be Kris/Adam. Kris isnt exactly my style of music but he has been doing very well. At first i didnt like him but hes been getting stronger and stronger and doing a great job. He also changes things around and makes it his own, you also arent sure what to expect from him either so right now i think Kris deserves it more than Danny. I would love for it to be Adam/Allison but thats not happening.

You need to be confident in order to succeed. I understand that. However, both Adam and Lil seemed to have this attitude of 'I am the best' on their so-called 'judgment days' on the show. As though they could just NEVER be in the bottom - It's just not possible. I take that as being over-confident & cocky. And it irritates me only because I PERSONALLY don't think either of them were the best. So I take that as 'Ugh, get off your high horse.' But that doesn't mean that I think they are horrible people or horrible performers either. I think Adam does have a good voice, but like I said before, it's so far from my style, so I can't help but hope he doesn't win. And i just don't see what everybody else does. don't get me wrong, i dont think everybody has to like him bc truth is that everybody has different taste in music. I dont like too much pop music, or adult contemporary. I like rock, hip-hop, reggae, and that sort of music, doesnt make anyone right just personal preference. I can understand ppl not liking Adam, maybe a bit too much for them and not their genre of music but i dont understand all the hatred towards him. That wasnt towards you but reading the comments on other boards, its crazy how ppl just hate him. I dont get why ppl cant just be like 'he is not my taste' there were alot of performers whose style i dont like as far as music but i didnt hate them and wish them bad. I just felt like hmmmm i guess theres a following for them but not my thing. Like I think Kris is doing well but its not my personal taste. I dont wish him bad or wont say he s*cks just bc its different from what I like.

When it comes down to it, we all have very different taste in music. If we start mentioning music artists we like, im sure many would have lots of opinions and say they hate or love what we like. Same situation here. I might not like an artist but i wouldnt question why somebody else would like them. All i read on the boards(not liw) is 'i dont get how ppl like adam' well they dont have to get it.

Some ppl talk about his style but i dont even think its that out there. He has that typical emo/rocker type style. I see guys that look like him all the time. I guess for some it is different and not what theyre used to seeing but look at my chemical romance, fallout boy to name just very few and they dont fit this wholesome look.

We all dont have to like the same thing. Dh for example hates janis joplin and to me she is the best EVER lol. He also says i have issues bc i dont like slow relaxing music

but ive never seen him give the judges attitude hmmmm infact when simon made a comment about his performance that wasnt the greatest comment, adams response was 'no that is perfectly fine, i understand' never talked back, well also that was the one bad comment hes gotten but handled that one comment well

And i get what you're saying. i'm not one of those who are 'hating' on him, but I'm not a fan just the same. Like i said before, he does have a voice on him, just not my style. Kind of irritating me that he's been smooth sailing. lol. So I am happy he was in the bottom 2. Even though I still think he's got a pretty high chance of winning, it's a good reality check that he may not be 'the best' of all the competitors. Of course even the winner of AI doesn't prove you are the ultimate singer of the universe tho. It just means that there were more people voting who liked your style rather than the others. (although technically it's not everybody in America who votes anyway. lol).

in a way it was good for him to be in the bottom 2 bc like in past seasons, people just assume that somebody who is doing so well that others will vote for them and will get through no matter and get lazy about voting, look what happened to Chris daughtry and many others. Everybody just assumes they'll get through. Now his fans know they have to vote. Same with Kris, he was in the bottom 3 so his fans know now that its getting close and to vote.

In a way, its sometimes better off when they don't win. Chris daughtry is doing better now than many other idol winners. In a way i feel they will try to mold the artist too much, and make them whatever they want to make them. Can be a bad thing in a way, depends on how much freedom they give the artist. Sometimes its better not to win. Look at Jennifer Hudson, shes done better than alot of winners. I love Allison too, but feel bad bc shes not showing her personality, shes only 17 so understandable. But she can go very far, with more practice and with time she will get there bc her voice is already there

dont know why either, in a way i think its bc somebody else notices them and signs them and the person who does gives them more freedom to do their own thing such as write their own music and that sort of stuff. With AI they are too concerned with fitting the AI image and hold their artists back and can have a bad effect. Also some viewers vote just based on personality, maybe bc of a personal tragic story or just to vote for the underdog. THere is nothing wrong with voting for an underdog, but depends if that underdog can actually make it. But after the competition do these ppl care enough to buy their albums is the question. Like Taylor Hicks, i dont know how he won. But i guess he was just likable on the show. Now he's doing the show grease and just one song too, he does the 'beauty school drop out' song.
